How to allow WMP 11 to play FLAC files

If you want right out of the box support, go download VLC.

Simple program, don't have to configure a thing (AFAIK).
Easy interface. No bulky WMP interface. Loads quick, what more could you want?

It also might be a good idea to check out media player classic with ffdshow for improved DVD watching 😉

And the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) has MPC and ffdshow among other things. And I hate the k-lite codec pack. Don't get it. I think it's a piece of sh!t.

why do you guys say WMP is bad? i have the interfact of windows media player classic, its ugly and plain, and so is vlc.

Again, downloading flac codec doesnt let WMP11 play flac. Any ideas?

Download and install the latest ffdshow version here (it is the custom Leak version w/avisynth patches, personally I think it's better then the official builds).

Go to the audio decoder settings and set the FLAC codec to the libavcodec decoder.

It should then work 😛

Otherwise, you can install MPC and that should use ffdshow for the decoder as well.
You can get the latest build of MPC here.
