If you want right out of the box support, go download VLC.

Simple program, don't have to configure a thing (AFAIK).
Easy interface. No bulky WMP interface. Loads quick, what more could you want?

It also might be a good idea to check out media player classic with ffdshow for improved DVD watching ;)

And the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) has MPC and ffdshow among other things. And I hate the k-lite codec pack. Don't get it. I think it's a piece of sh!t.

People here hate bloat, WMP got a bad rep a few versions back and has yet to recover. Nothing wrong with it now.

Download and install the latest ffdshow version here (it is the custom Leak version w/avisynth patches, personally I think it's better then the official builds).

Go to the audio decoder settings and set the FLAC codec to the libavcodec decoder.

It should then work :p

Otherwise, you can install MPC and that should use ffdshow for the decoder as well.
You can get the latest build of MPC here.
