Does anyone know how the dinosaurs got to be so god damn big? No other land animal today even approaches the size of them.

God made them that way? Oh wait, God wasn't invented until about 2000 years ago. Nevermind...

Millions of years of evelution as well as a very large amount of abundant foodsources. I think the temperature of the planet in general was warmer in those times and the land masses were more connected. Vegetation and meat would have been plentiful and without many winters and all that time the elite animals would mate producing larger and larger creatures. For example, humans used to have a much smaller average height only a few hundred years ago, I would be curious to see what another 1000 years brings.

Those individuals aren't genetically viable. They can't mate due to their penis disappearing in between fat layers.

hahahah this thread cracks me up.

But anyways, jandrews' explanation sounds good to me. Or he's just a naturally born salesman who can say whatever he wants and I'd automatically agree with him :Q

There was less gravity back then, allowing creatures to grow much larger. Due to the ever increasing amount of evil pitted in the center of the earth, gravity has been growing and growing. Only since the dawn of Jesus, has this pit of evil gotten smaller. Thus, in the past few thousand years, gravity has gotten smaller and people have gotten taller.

Pure science.

more food
mostly cold blooded + always warm = very little energy spent on keeping themselfs warm allowed for more growth
massively larger amounts of O2 in the air

I don't think dinosaurs where ever not big. So its not a question as to how they got big, but rather why were they so big to begin with.
