I have an IQ of 160 (tested back in 1992 when going through the whole ADHD diagnoses process). It's not uncommon for people with ADHD to have very high IQ's though. I regret not applying my self in school more. Instead of saying geez this is easy and kicking ass. I decided I couldn't be bothered.

I haven't lived up to my potential at all, I fail.

Yay, I love the e-pp measuring contests!

1. Not sure what the question is
2. According to IQ tests I am gifted
3. I'm going along with the popular "yes, b/c I'm lazy" :)

Def. top 25%, possible top 10% but I would say if I really was that clever I would be less lazy, so I'm going to go for 25%.

I'm not gonna claim top 25% because that's what I had in high school but it was high school and I didn't care/didn't put forth the effort. Overall in academics I'm above average but putting an exact number on it can't be done because there are some things I do well and then others I couldn't even fathom.

About 2 standard deviations to the right of "average".

Being able to measure intelligence is a myth. It all comes down to exposure and potential. Almost everyone has the potential to become very intelligent.

Unfortunately, most people never gain the exposure to enough ideas to become intelligent. I hope that I gain enough exposure in life to become intelligent. I will say though that the internet definitely helps people obtain exposure. The next generation will be very interesting.

I disagree, I think potential is extremely variable. But most people don't live up to their potential.

What makes you feel that potential is variable? I don't see many people who absolutely can not learn a task, subject, or idea. The variable that you might be referring to is whether or not the person is willing to embrace the effort that it takes to obtain the knowledge.

Sure, everyone might not grasp the subject as quickly as the people around them. I've met some people who it takes forever to grasp an idea. However, often they don't forget it as quickly as someone who picked the information up with ease. Some people simply refuse information on a personal level because it conflicts with the way they have always believed. People can have many reasons or causes for not picking up new information or ideas.

But, this doesn't change their potential. They are just as able to obtain the knowledge as anyone else. The only real limits of potential are mental handicaps and ailments that impede the natural ability to master a subject. If you have impaired memory your potential will unfortunately be limited.

Most people have the ability to very intelligent. Like everyone else they will have their strong and weak subjects. It all really depends on the environment that someone lives. Like would have Albert Einstein been who he was if he would have grew up in a coal town in West Virginia? Would have Bill Gates been who he was if he lived in a small trailer in Texas? In these situations they probably would have never realized their potential.

They would have probably have ended up working in local trades shooting pool at the local bar on Friday nights. While believing that they were simply average no different than the average Joe.

I'm ridiculously smart but my kryptonite is that I'm lazy. Such wasted potential. Imagine if Michael Phelps was afraid of water or Barry Bonds hated needles.

In my younger days, I had to go through a battery of tests with an "Industrial Psychologist", including IQ and aptitude testing as part of a job interview process.

In the debriefing after all of the test results had been analyzed, the psychologist stated that my IQ was in the top 3%. He also said I had some anger issues and needed to calm down my managment style.

I figure I've killed off a few brain cells since then, but I still choose top 5% in your poll, but I have not fully lived up to my intellectual potential as I decided to make some money instead.

Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?
Morons.

I was always a 99% on standardized test. Using that with the fact that I've slipped a little in my adult years I'd be safe saying top 10%.

And if for some reason that went foul, I'm in the top percent of height ;)

People say I'm smart. I think that's just because I know how to "e-nun-ci-ate".

When I was in second or third grade I was diagnosed with ADD. Part of that ball of fun was having a IEP (individualized education plan) set up for me. Every 3 years it was reevaluated and I was given a few tests (2 of which were IQ tests to measure potential I guess). I never knew what I was because until I was 18 my parents refused to tell me what the tests even really were let alone my scores. I just thought it was a fun way to get out of class for 4hrs every now and then and play with some red and white blocks. When I was a junior or senior in highschool I took my final test and I was 18 so I asked the guy if he could send the scoring results addressed to me. Turns out im over 2 standard deviations from average putting me in the 98th percentile.

Like a lot of people have said my biggest downfall is my laziness/procrastination. Stuff doesnt hold my attention for long and once I get disinterested im done with that subject. I guess thats why your typical jack of all trades, master of none kind of guy. Potential wise, I think I have reached about 30% of my "potential." I honestly really wish that stuff didnt come as easy to me because I would work a whole hell of a lot harder and maybe not get so disinterested in things. School was always a pain in the ass because I would get things faster than everyone else and I wouldnt study. I would be ahead of the class for the first half and behind the rest of the semester. I would have to pull all night cram sessions because I would stop studying / doing homework after the first exam.

Its also frustrating as fuck sometimes when youre trying to explain "simple" things to people and they just cant grasp the concept. I was in a study group my last semester of college and I probably spent 90% of my time there teaching stuff. It helped me out but the one girl was just hopeless. I really hope she doesnt graduate with the same degree I have because I will feel that it cheapens it. I would hire a box of rocks over this girl.

Back in high school I was in the top 5% on one of those tests with all the letters in the name. PSAT/NMSQT or whatever it is. Now though I'd say top 25 depending on the topic.

I'd say I'm about average. I'm not a genius, but I'm definitely not an idiot either.

Oh, and no, I haven't lived up to my full potential yet.

Being a Math tutor I can assure you that Intelligence IS variable. For some it is enough to say "This is how you do it" And it is like a conduit from heaven opens giving them all knowledge on the subject. For others, when the conduit opens they put on sun glasses and shut their eyes.

There are many people who really just can't learn stuff. Any engineer I know could have specialized in just about any other field, however, I know many business majors who could never be engineers (Nor would you want them to be). (And yes, Every engineer I know could have EASILY been a business major)

I actually find it rather fascinating that the poll results have reflected a curve throughout the day.

I have no desire to tell you all how smart I am by sharing iq, ranking, etc. Instead I would like to share with you that I was a lot smarter before I went to college and dissolved my brain with natural light, 5 buck whiskey, and waffle house grease.

Well I do have a few openings left... Can the rocks refrain from fucking things up? They dont need to do a good job, just not a horrid, end of world, sea of flames job.
