I live in Huntington Wv which for us is a pretty big city :) and its a nice little 2 bedroom house, large fenced yard, and 1 1/2 car garage all for $42,000. There are a few advantages to living in this state.

Damn, my down payment alone was more than that.

Yeah, the market here isn't any better. I can't imagine the house I could buy in WV if that's what you get for 42 grand.

You want to hear something even worse. About 6 years ago my parents bought a pretty nice 3 br, dinning room, 2 car carport, around 1/2 acre of flat land, and ON A LAKE for $40k :D. It was owned by an 80+ year old lady and she wasn't able to live on her own any more and her family lived in Fl and didn't want to deal with selling it so we got it cheap. We had to do some minor work to it but over all we got a killer deal. Its still probably only worth $70k ish though :).
