I'm more curious about who here owns a home in a major city, such as New York or Los Angeles, and at what age? Heck, my cousin just bought his first house last year (Was 29 yrs. old then, married, 2 kids), and he + wife make over $100k (before taxes), and they don't even live in that great a neighborhood. (My car got keyed in front of their house). I don' t think I'll ever be able to afford a house in NYC or Long Island.
I'm was wondering that myself. Do people in big cities tend to purchase homes later in life? Two of my ~21 year old cousins are buying their own huge homes (4-5 bedroom, 1 arcre) in Apple Valley, CA (desert) for about half my apartment's rent a month.

It was just last year and I was 26 and single. I am still single if any of the ladies out there are interested in a home owner.
I live in Huntington Wv which for us is a pretty big cityand its a nice little 2 bedroom house, large fenced yard, and 1 1/2 car garage all for $42,000. There are a few advantages to living in this state.

Damn, my down payment alone was more than that.

Man, that's quite a bit of material and labor for that small price bump.Originally posted by: HeroOfPellinor

Very very hard to find. Most people know by now that they can make alot more selling their house if they throw a few K into some cheap enhancments. They get cheap double pane windows, paint the house beige and white, put ceramic or laminate in the kitchen, and throw up some plywood cabinets and bump the price another 20K.
