How old is your current computer, and how long do you expect you'll use it for?

I was inspired by the 'what computer were you using ten years ago?' thread. I'm just curious to know what peoples' expectations are.

Mine:
Build date: June 2010
Current spec: Ph2 960T, 4GB, 5770, 500GB HDD.

No plans to do a platform update, I'm hoping to get at least 6 years out of it in total before I want to upgrade it. The only change I've made so far as that I originally had an Athlon II X4 630 and due to a fortunate set of circumstances I ended up with the 960T.

Plans for it: 256GB SSD, an extra 8GB RAM (thinking of pretty much max'ing out in this respect rather than do multiple small upgrades), replace the ailing 500GB (SMART warnings) with probably a WD Black. Graphics card upgrade somewhere along the way.

Everything I've read suggests that spending about the same price as I did the 5770 would get me a card that performs at least twice as fast (1080p). For now I've convinced myself to wait in hope of a card that beats the 5770 in every respect (power consumption, noise, performance), which may be wishful thinking.

I tend to buy one or two games per year, and they're not usually the most demanding ones (currently playing SC2 a lot). I guess the graphics card or platform update ideas might wait for a new (too) demanding game that piques my curiosity.
 
Work laptop is a year and I will use it for two more. Home PC is two weeks and I have no idea!

I am a total believer in SSD though. I think it is the single best upgrade you can do unless you're absolutely terrible in the ram situation. I think everybody should be using an SSD for their OS at least, the performance is unreal.
 
The PC in my sig was built in early 2010 when the Intel i3/5/7s first came out. My video card and PSU are actually a little older because I had built a C2D system (E8400) a year earlier. The only honest reason I switched is because I won a free Core i3 at an Intel Conference so I got a mobo and some RAM for it and sold the old stuff on eBay and was able to break even.

Since building it I upgraded to an i7 870, and a Samsung 830.

I'd say that it's a pretty solid system for it's age, and I have no intentions to upgrade this any further (except for maybe upgrading to 8GB of DDR3) I'm hoping to get at least 1 (preferably 2) more years out of it before I build or buy my next system.

And what that is going to be is mainly going to depend on how Windows 9 turns out. If M$ continues their trend with Windows 8, there is a very good possibility that my next main workstation will be a Mac... Unless maybe M$ decided to extend support for Windows 7

Between now and then, my main concerns are upgrading my monitors to 2 x 27" displays and maybe a smaller 17" monitor to use as a document reader.

My current computer is based on a C2D E6600. I could use it for years to come, but I noticed a bulging cap on the mb a few months ago, so it may not last as long as I could use it. I built it in 2006.

I just bought an Acer Aspire One from the pawn shop for $100. It was made in 2011 I think. It's a great machine, and I expect I'll use it for years unless I break it.
 
Current pc is in sig. Built it in 2010. I have added an ssd & upgraded the gpu several times over the past few years. No need change the core components, since they are still going strong.
Probably will use it until something major dies.
 
I built mine late 2009 I think. This is by far the longest my main components have lasted while being able to play new games at 1080p and high settings with just GPU upgrades. May build a new one later this year.

3.5 years old. I'd like to get another 3-4 years out of it. It is a solid desktop so upgrading/replacing parts shouldn't be an issue.
 
I'm currently using a 2011 MBP I bought refurbed in 2012. Added an SSD and upped the memory to 8GB's the day I bought. I'll use it until OS X gets bloated enough it needs more ram or a new piece of tech is developed that I want. USB 3 was close but I don't use external storage enough. Probably upgrade in 2016 just for the want of a new machine more than need.
 
I have an Arrandale 520M laptop, so it's well over 3 years old at this point. The battery is dying and the HD has already been replaced but I should be good for quite some time. Pretty sure this is my last Windows machine because of Windows 8+; might build a Steam Box if I decide to play more recent titles.
 
My main desktop PC in my office has a 4 month old CPU and motherboard (Microcenter $200 i7-4770k + $40 off a motherboard sale), 5 month old GPU, 18 month old SSD, 2 year old SATA drive, 4 year old DVD-RW, 3 year old PSU, and 4 year old case.

Should I average that out?

Current computer (i7 920, 6GB ram and GTX660 [2013]) is from 2009 . I'll probably upgrade sometime next year depending on when new parts become available.
 
My desktop is still an old C2D E6300 and it seems fine to me for normal things. Games are starting to suck on it but I don't do much gaming on it and most that I do do are games I get from humble bundles that are older anyway. No plans to upgrade.

My laptop is an AMD A8-3800 and has a dedicated mediocre graphic card. Still plays games fine so I'm in no rush to upgrade.

My HTPC is actually my most modern with a Celeron G530 or 40 can't remember. Plenty powerfull enough for a HTPC and again no reason to upgrade.
 
My main computer is a 15" Retina MBP which I bough in September 2012. I'll probably use it for another two years.
 
Motherboard + memory + CPU is ~4 years, the rest is less then ½ a year. Planning on getting a Haswell-E or maybe Broadwell, if the Haswell-E platform tuns out extremely expensive.
 
My case, power supply, RAM, HD5770, and 2 500GB drives are from June of 2010. I replaced the main board and processor at the end of 2011 (My motherboard was having issues in Mid-2011- Asus repaired it the first time, but then it died 3 months later). Added an SSD this past summer.

I'll probably build a new one when I finish my PhD in about a year or so. I may dump most of the parts into my HTPC when the time comes to build again and then scrap the rest to build a new mATX system. My current case is pretty mediocre (not enough hard drive slots, poor cable management, cramped card slots - it's got the cards on top, near the PSU and external drives).

It was assembled in 2011, although I have upgraded the graphics card twice since then. It's an i5 2500K that overclocks reasonably well so I might get another year or two out of it given how stagnant the processor scene has been lately. The upgrade itch was strong last year though. We'll see I guess.
 
2011, I'll probably use if for a few more years.

A little less than a year old. Should last me at least another 2-3 more years. I play significantly less games than I used to, so could last me quite a bit longer.
 
2012 15" Retina MacBook Pro (2.3GHz Core i7, 8GB, 256GB SSD). Bought in in January of last year and I plan on keeping it until Apple releases a Retina MacBook Air.
 
it is from january, with my avg. 300K income I build one whenever new CPU, or GFX chipset come out

.... seriously I made long term purchase in late 2012, guts being i7 3770, planning to keep it for 5 yrs.
 
The case and motherboard in my computer I purchased on June 3rd, 2008. An Antec Sonata III and Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L. I bought it with an E8400 and now have a Q9550 in it. I bought it with 4 GB of Mushkin Enhanced Blackline RAM and added 4 more in December of 2008. Started off with an Asus 8800GT, upgraded to a GT250, and then to a Sapphire HD 6870. I believe I started with a 640 GB Western Digital hard drive, upgraded to a 1TB Western Digital hard drive and then to an OCZ Vertex 3.

I bought the motherboard because of the all solid capacitor design and lack of fans on the motherboard - two things which I've seen fail on other motherboards. I'll probably end up doing another video card upgrade before I replace the whole thing.
 
I have many computers with many different pieces and parts of varying ages.

The bedroom neffing station is about a year old. Its just a cheap Woot deal since I only use it for neffing while eating.
 
I go through/buy computers faster than I do underwear. Not because they stop working or aren't powerful enough, but simply because I get bored with them or always want the latest and greatest technology.

Right now my main web browsing machine is an HP laptop from 2005 which I recently bought used on eBay. But I also have a 2013 iMac which I use for my music setup.
