The earth was created 15 minutes ago, everything you have thought up to this point has been pre-programmed for you. Anything that says otherwise is pseudoscience and religious nuts talking. Congratulations, you are an automaton.

I generally enjoy this forum....these types of threads are one definitive reason I don't.

Yay, Lets all jump on the religious or atheist bandwagon. Lets argue about it on an internet forum and try to prove why either opposing opinion is ignorant or wrong.

All these threads do is highlight hypocrisy.

The earth's age can be calculated by slicing it in half and counting the rings. I believe the last time they did this it came out to ~4billion.

The universe spotaneously sprung into existence 1 second ago, along with all your "memories"

What's often funny about these "types" of threads is that people try to discredit God and/or the bible by saying it supports a 6000 year old earth...

The bible indicates an earth thats been around countless years, corroborating all the science to date.

Saying otherwise only deepens the case for the bible and God, making the "science people" look as ignorant as the "bible folks" they're trying to discredit.

If you believe the bible takes you away from science, and does not corroborate it, then you're ignorant of what it says.

No, people don't really waste time discrediting a deity made up by humans in a fiction book written by men, because it has nothing to do with it. They just laugh at the idiots that claim that in their version of everything, their version of that deity (because of course everyone has the same deity, but theirs is always different from other people's, and of course clearly their deity is the right one) made everything at a certain time. Pretending that there aren't many people that claim those things is ignorance above and beyond any that you perceive in those claims you just made.

Also, I do not think corroborate means what you think it means.

You're right, it highlights hypocrisy like your own. Its very clear why threads like this bother you, and it has nothing to do with what you claim (in pretty much every thread you'll find people with opposing opinions and arguments about it, and it often devolves into much worse than what you're whining about). You'll see worse bickering in threads about movies or music. The fact is, these threads are treated for what they are (generally clearly just trolling by the person that made them). You're just too asinine to understand that.

and your "christian" president obama
This is false. Both Palin and Perry are expressly creationist while Obama expressly affirms evolution. Some simple googling would've brought that to light, but as we are all aware, facts are anathema to creationists and republicans.

Reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode. This guy got caught out of synch with the rebuild process and saw the blue people that reset every second for everybody.

Cool episode.

No, but it didn't say the earth wasn't round and that the earth was the center of the solar system, either.

Don't get me wrong; that was a serious question. I do not know squat about Christianity and the bible. But then - why was the church so fixated on geocentric model.. and refused to accept the change?

who knows..how far can we accurately carbon date? older than that.

Damn son, thats the smartest thing you ever said here.
Get help from your kids?

Yup, carbon dating only works to a point. The main reason we know the age of long lived things is by comparing them to other stuff we observe in the universe. We can see a lot of other things at various stages of their lives and make rough estimates of years.

Yeah carbon dating. Because Uranium just wants to be friends.

I'm a hypocrite? I stated an opinion not an argument. In fact I chose not to add to the obviously blatant attempt to start another flame thread. You, however, jumped right in with insults and your opinions about how ignorant Caveman was...thanks for highlighting my point. I am very impressed with how enlightened and educated you are. I'm sure you're a real joy to talk to in real life.

You know what? You don't know me or anything about me. You have know idea what you are talking about. There is such a thing as a post that doesn't incite arguing over religion and atheism or movies and music. How about a conversation or passing on informative information for a change....pick a subject, I don't give a fuck what it is.

You did however just portray exactly what I stated was the problem and annoyance with threads like this. You did just show your true persona over an internet forum of being a real douche bag. You did just insult me and another poster for... what? There is a very big difference between stating opinions and flinging insults. You should figure what that difference is.

Oh, and congrats on in fact...being a contributing troll.

There is some section in Joshua where God stopped the sun, or made it go backwards, or some such. They were caught up on the specific wording, that the sun moved and not the Earth.

Or at least that was one reason.
