How often you format?

Just curious how often you guys/gals format your hard drive. I just installed a new cpu and motherboard. Everything seems fine, but got an urge to format haha.

So how often you format?
 
I format about once every 2 months. I'm just too lazy to go through and clean up all of my files so I reformat.

Should be doing it again soon, my 1.5 years old 98SE install is getting to slow and buggy!!

 
When ever I install a new os. In this past year I went from 98se-win2k-winxp

I have only reformated my mac once, and that was so that I could put a fresh install of os x.

usually just move over bookmarks/cookies etc, then delete the windows n program files dir's
you oughta see the length of my favourites list! 😉
 
Hard to remember . . . but I think it was 1996 or 97 when I dumped NT4 and went back to 95 SR2. Since then it has been a pretty solid chain of updates resulting in an extremely stable system through 98, 98SE, ME, and now XP Pro.

I don't expect to ever reformat again. (Except for floppies and removable media) 🙂
 
The only time I ever format is when I get a new HD. I don't know what's up with the other people on this thread that format so often.
 
I don't format very often... reason being is I've got everything the way I like it, and it's working just fine right now.

When that changes, then I will format 🙂
 
My fun theory is formatting a hard drive too often is related to an obcessive compulsive behavior. Some people feel that a format will clean the slate and installing the programs again will make sure everything is perfect. But they fail to realize that it is the programs that have flaws and which cause foul ups that's why there are so many updates, patches, and drivers. I think people get a false sense of disorganization so they are compeled to reformat. Once they reformat, they re-install the programs, use the computer and then reformat again?

I format the bare minimum because I have no CDRW to backup data, and I have 1 hard drive. So if I format it would be to upgrade my win98se, or if I got a new hard drive.

hehe JK, I reformat partitions of my hard drive all the time cause I like the feeling of cleanliness it gives me. 🙂
