How often does your smartphone reboot itself on it's own?

Nexus 10 has rebooted on me 3 times in 3 days...

You know, normally I would apply my "never buy 1st gen anything" rule (1st gen Android tablets were complete garbage). I would've thought by now it would've had the basics of stability fixed.

My galaxy nexus does it sometimes 2-3 times a day on bad days. Sometimes its not as bad maybe 3-4 times a week.

Same with mine. Typically after I tether for a long time.

I've owned many devices over the years from all the big OSes. I find the random reboot frequency to be roughly the same across the board.

Galaxy S2 Skyrocket has only done it a couple times on its down. But it often wigs out and requires me to reboot it. It'll stop receiving text messages or navigating the interface just gets so painfully slow I'll pull the battery. When I'm due for an upgrade I may end up going back to the iPhone and just deal with the lack of an app or two that I've been considering a need up until now. Or... maybe I'll try a Windows Phone 8 device... or maybe I'll just forget about smart phones and get a Blackberry again. (zing!)

Which is a little weird considering that this thread is full of "never" and "a couple times a week".

People lie or their devices reboot in their pockets and they don't notice.

There is very little way to easy way distinguish a phone that has rebooted in your pocket vs a phone that hasnt. All your webpages in the browser remain the same and most every day things are preserved through a reboot.

And considering phones spend more time on stanby then actively looked at, I'm pretty sure its the latter. Its when people use their phone more that these reboots are seen more often.

1) It's roughly the same across all OS which is "almost never"
2) It's roughly the same across all OS which is "a couple times a week"

Might be because of that. Ive never had a problem with my old Epic 4G when running stock but then again, Ive almost always had a ROM.

lol that was a truly trashy phone though seriously... In retrospect I think I was justified when I said that it was a hyped up phone, and that all the rage was only because there was finally an iPhone competitor in the US.

With that said my Milestone didn't reboot much. IT ran out of memory every few hours, but that was a different story....

Update bump. My Galaxy Nexus was rebooting 2-3 times a day. Then HD Widgets, which I use a few of on my home screens, released an update with a description saying they fixed reboots. Apparently it's related to an OS level bug. Since that update my phone hasn't rebooted itself once. So I guess I figured out the issue.

iPhone 5 rebooted once now. First time since I got it a month ago.

Nexus 4 maybe once or twice but then again I'm rommed. The Nexus has been quite easy to develop for overall though so I think that's contributed to its stability.

Depends on the ROM for sure. My current ROM has only rebooted because I manually did it but the previous ROM (CM10 "stable") spontaneously rebooted a couple times a week (it's easy for me to tell because I have a widget that resets when there's a reboot).
