Directly? never.

Deadlifting, squatting, rowing even, pullups, anything that requires core stabilization should get it done. When I was first deadlifting my abs would hurt so bad the day after I couldn't even stretch when I would yawn.

Also, medicine ball slams, and kettlebell swings seem to incorporate some abs too

I have a heavily bodybuilding-oriented routine for the most part, so I'll generally throw in some direct ab work four or five times per week. It's possible that my abs would be defined using only to squats, deadlifts, etc., but in my case, I doubt it.

I am doing situps hard core right now, but it's because I need to be hard core at situps at some point

I do at the end of every workout (3-4x a week), but it's not ab work in the traditional sense. I barely ever do crunches. It's usually what most would consider "functional" work. For example, farmers walks, planks, pallof presses, ab wheel, overhead pallof presses, suitcase deadlifts, etc. I used to never do any ab work except the occasional crunches, but after a back injury it made me reevaluate my training completely, and core training (along with flexibility, mobility, and soft tissue work) was one of those areas.

For a very good article on core training and along the lines of what I do, check out this series by Mike Robertson.

All the time.

Nearly every workout I do requires my core to aid in some way, therefore working it out. Pretty sure it got a hell of a workout from standing shoulder presses today.

Is this a serious question, or are you attempting to mock him all the while being clueless about the fact that he knows much more about the body than you?

how was it mocking him?
clearly i can tell he knows what he's talking about, and judging from the quality of his posts and his workout regimen, i can tell he's got MORE than a 6 pack which is i went as far as asking about his EIGHT pack.

your post however, was an obvious personal attack so kindly stfu.

Lulz at text miscommunication.

Directly, I only work abs when the WOD includes situps, GHD situps, L-sits, L-pullups, etc. I do, however, work them most days with heavy compounds (particularly thrusters).

Deeko's not the only one who couldn't tell if your post was sarcastic or not.

Indirectly a lot....olifts, squats, mp,

Directly I do every other session I finish with a 3-4 sets of an ab exercise from the below list
incline sit ups
incline sit ups with weights
ab rolls on a barbell
crunches
dragonflags

My abs never hurt from lifting or DL. I've always done a specific ab/ back exercise at the end of practically every session I do for the past 10yrs.

Your reputation precedes you, not to mention you clearly came into this thread expecting different responses. Slick recovery post though.
