There was a time when I used to weigh myself before a shower every day. I have since given that up as being silly. But, that was also when I was impatient to see weight loss. Now, that I do not necessarily want weight loss (but only want to decrease the fat/muscle ratio at about the same or a slightly higher body weight), I am OK with weighing myself once a week. But, there must be some recommended "best practices" out there. Or aren't there any?
So, here are the questions. What are the best frequencies/intervals for:
1. Taking body weight on a scale? Is an analog scale better than a digital scale? Are there those that come with memories? Preferably, multi-person memories? Is morning, after waking up, before breakfast, the best time to weigh?
2. Measuring waist, chest, hip, thigh (left and right/flexed und unflexed), bicep (left and right/flexed and unflexed)? For the waist and chest measures, should I take two readings (inhaled and exhaled)? Or just "normal"? I use the MyoTape for these measures. How about skin fold measurements. I got myself a pair of calipers, but just looking at how the skin fold measure changes, if I move the measuring spot a few millimeters to the left or right, when I take readings at the wiast, I am *very* leery about how much "truth" this measure will give me. :-(
3. Photos? What are the angles/views I should take? Front and side of the whole torso? More? Any close ups of limbs or anything else?
Thank you for your attention. If the answers are contingent upon any personal data or condition, I could give them, but I figured that the answers to these could be universally useful.
