To me, Metapad is my notepad. But, I always "open" notepad by first creating a text file, then opening that. I never actually type "notepad.exe" (I overwrote my notepad.exe files with Metapad).

I rarely use Calc.

I finally re-mapped my WinKey+R to immediately open "cmd", since I never used any other command in my Run dialog anyway (I always used the command prompt for multiple commands after that). Thanks, AutoHotkey!

Notepad, probably 10x/day
Calc, rarely to never. Excel is usually open and it's faster to throw calculations into a cell.

As other people have said - calculator button on the keyboard rocks... although I do have a calculator on my desk beside me :)

Notepad... not so much. I used to use it more.

Very rarely, I'll leave my same instance of emacs open for weeks at a time and when I'm in Windows I've got VS2008 open, so no need for notepad to code with :p

I have Calc in my QuickLaunch bar. Notepad I use a little less often, so I just right-click on the desktop to make a new txt document.
