To me, Metapad is my notepad. But, I always "open" notepad by first creating a text file, then opening that. I never actually type "notepad.exe" (I overwrote my notepad.exe files with Metapad).
I rarely use Calc.
I finally re-mapped my WinKey+R to immediately open "cmd", since I never used any other command in my Run dialog anyway (I always used the command prompt for multiple commands after that). Thanks, AutoHotkey!
notepad daily. I log every change I make to every router or switch and save it with the date Actual, I compose the change in notepad first and then copy+past into the device..
Very rarely, I'll leave my same instance of emacs open for weeks at a time and when I'm in Windows I've got VS2008 open, so no need for notepad to code with
