For a basic product packed in a whatever box like this keyboard, I agree. But some products are so incredibly packaged an unboxing video's a thing of beauty. My Bluetooth Beats By Dre headphones.....

Say what you want about the regular Beats, personally I hate them with a passion. But the Bluetooth ones are easily top 5 Bluethooth cans for under $500. You've never even heard them and are hating just because of the name, amirite?

He is a walmart shopper and has to settle for ghetto cans.

lol, I was expecting it to be one of those damn vacuum sealed plastic boxes that are molded as one piece and actually hard to open. This was just a basic cardboard box.

I check unboxing videos every once in a while to see what's inside the box and if I'm missing anything.

Guys, it's just a cardboard box. Of all the things in the world to judge, we're judging how some Spanish kid opens a box, I sunk a new low by the fact I even had to point this out.

Who makes unboxing videos of anything, ever? Quite possibly one of the stupidest trends to come out of our era. Packaging is packaging... who gives a shit?

I don't know, I find it nice to find out just what exactly is "in the box" which is why I always liked Newegg showing pics of that. Yeah a long video with a bunch of stupid mouthbreathing commentary is stupid and yes there being thousands of unboxing videos for the same thing is stupid, but I think they can and do serve a purpose for some things.

Same with Let's Play. Why do people like watching very bland videos of random jackasses just playing a game. Most of the time they're not even being entertaining about it or anything its literally just them just saying uninteresting stuff while playing a game.

Bluetooth audio sucks ass in general, so that coupled with a brand known for overpriced style over substance products, hmm now why would someone guess that trend isn't likely to change?

Those sealed plastic clamshell abominations should be fucking banned.

Also manufacturers that tie toys to the plastic backing with 15 bazillion sodding bits of wire and 4 screws! That's the one thing that I hate about Xmas morning is a toddler getting pissed off because it takes half and hour and a couple of brandies to get a toy out of the box.

My Sennheiser MM 550-X & Klipsch Image One's would like to have a word with you...

As opposed to the easier way by reading the box/instruction sheet for what's included in the box?

Yeah, I've always found it easier to search crappy unboxing videos for what I'm about to open vs. just reading the box. 🙄

Dude, he's an idiot. Admit it and move on.

LOL those aren't that hard to figure out.

I've had to open some dumb packages before, but that keyboard/mouse box isn't one of them.

Because boxes/instruction sheets always show a color photo of each individual item within every box... 🙄

Or I didn't buy it yet, and wanted to see what it looks like inside with some commentary, no matter how inane, and online manuals might be black and white and have no pictures. 🙄

OMFG, someone, and thousands others who post and watch these, has found a use for something that you don't approve of. 🙄

ATOT elitism, eff yeah! 🙄

Why would you not just look at a proper review though?

Honestly, I've seen maybe five unboxing videos in my entire life.

I do check reviews and manuals -- multiple and in thorough detail. But if I just want one extra source of info or clarification, why not watch a 5 minute fast-forwardable video where someone goes through an unboxing from start to finish with commentary. And since these videos have thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of views, there might be some comments that could be useful.

It's one extra source. What's the harm?

There's no harm, they just seem a bit pointless when theres actual reviews that give a more rounded view of the product.

You're looking in the wrong place if you want a "rounded view of the product". I don't think any of the unboxings I've seen actually include the product being plugged in or used in any way as designed🙂.

They're essentially "impressions" you might see on a review site before they test it for 30 days or whatever and put up a detailed review.

Also, some review sites might not have pictures of the contents of the box or a good view at the right angle of exactly what you're looking for. This is where a few hundred regular joes fill the hole.

And this is assuming that a review's even available for more basic, boring consumer items. Amazon.com reviews aren't usually the flashiest.

In the few cases I've actually been impressed with packaging, the reason I was impressed was because I was surprised it was better than average. If I knew that's how it was packaged before hand it wouldn't feel special.

I do! I hate batteries. Every damn thing my kids have need them. I'm so done.

BTW, unboxing videos = super geeky.

Cords FTW!

I hate cordless mice. Keyboards too. I value reliability over not having cords to deal with.
