How much $$$ would it take for you to pull the trigger once on yourself? (Russian Roulette)

I was just reading a fictional story where a character was subjected to this. How much $ would it take for you to do this, if any amount at all?

I think I'd take a stab at it for $1,000,000. Not even a 17% chance of death. If I lose - instant death (I hope). If I win - my life is instantly better.

I'm all about taking life chances, so it makes sense to me. I'm sure some people wouldn't do it for any amount of money at all.

If it was right now, I don't think any amount would tempt me. When I was younger, maybe a high enough value. When I'm older, maybe in my 70's to 80's... I'd revisit the idea.

it really depends on what situation I am... if I were struggling financially and leading a crappy life, a coiuple million dollars would be a no brainer. On the other hard, a stable, comfortable life warrants that i do everything possible to maintain how things are-- hence I would never play the game

Probably better odds and payoff by robbing a Wells Fargo truck.

if my life were that sh!tty that i would subject myself to such a thing i guess it would be a win-win situation. 🙂

Last thread that was similar to this one was locked, so this one may not last long.

My first question would be, would the money be tax free? That would make a big difference. 😉

Oh I'm sorry. I searched for Russian and looked past it somehow. Didn't mean to repost a locked thread.

(being serious here) I guess about 1 million. 1/6 chance at gaining a year's worth of income in the form of interest per year for life, assuming it were all invested. I don't enjoy life all that much, and don't believe in any religious BS. If I hit that 1 in 6 chance, I'd feel absolutely nothing as my brains were scrambled, so it's not even like there's pain involved. This is assuming a decent caliber gun in conjunction with proper aiming, of course.

I can't answer that question without knowing how many chambers there are in the gun...
If there are 6, no amount of money would convince me to do it... to high of a risk of death.
But, logically, almost everyone in here would take a chance, given a sufficient number of chambers, and only 1 bullet.
I say that, because ALL of us take risks that could end our lives..
Walking to the store at 10pm... 1 in 50 million chance of dying (either at the hand of a axe-murderer or drunk driver, or slipping and falling, or whatever)
So, if there were 50 million chambers, of course I'd take the chance... no more risky than walking to the store.

I see what you're saying, but the OP specifically said Russian Roulette, which is generally a 1/6 chance, though a few revolvers have eight chambers.

Wouldn't do it for money, but I'd do it to save a loved one. Hell, I'd probably do it to save a stranger. (a la last season's 24)
