How much 'vacation' time do you get?

15 days... it's like 3 weeks and change, if you take into account the fact that I work 4-day weeks.

my company really needs to revamp its vacation policy. it's disheartening that you max out on vacation time after 3 years and have nothing more to look forward to.

156 hours a year for me (19.5 days) in annual leave. Can have a max of 240 hours so anything over that is must-use or you lose it at the end of the year.
104 hours of sick leave/year (13 days)
10 holidays every year
A week off between Christmas and New Years (unpaid or you can use leave)

Plus i can work for comp time instead of overtime and earn more leave to use if i want. If i dont use it in a year it just converts back to OT. Normally if i have 30 hours of OT on a check the rest ill work comp time since thats the point i jump to higher tax bracket and get raped. Always funny how if i work 30 hours i make x amount and ifi work 40 its barely more than the 30 hours check >.<

Exactly the same here. Ah, the benefits of working for your country behind a desk. Also, alternative work schedules and telework days are great. Some people I work around have it so that they work 10 hour days and do 1 telework day a week.. so they're in the office for only 3 days during a normal week.

A lot of people think like that - it works out better in the end when you file your income tax. You really do make more money, but it doesn't appear that way because the temporary change in income affects the way the withholding works. I know a few guys who occasionally have long weeks. My son ran into a couple of them with 252 hour weeks (18 hours a day, 7 days a week, at double time.) To avoid a HUGE extra chunk withheld for tax purposes, he changed his withholding to 99 dependants for 2 weeks, then changed it back. It avoided a lot being taken out in taxes. Then, when he filed his tax return, he still got money back. YMMV, consult one of the gurus.

I also get 2 weeks per annum of sick leave, all of which can roll over year-on-year.
