  • 1-2 weeks

  • 2-3 weeks

  • 3-4 weeks

  • 4+ weeks

  • I'm a typical ATOTer so I'm always on vacation

  • Paid time off?! What is the socialist crap?

24+15 + x days, where x depends on the number of public holidays that fall on week-ends. Essentially I have a fixed number of work days, not a fixed number of free days.

And yes, that's 8 weeks - almost stretchable to 9 in may with the two public holidays.

France, semi-public (FT/Orange) sector. People don't pull a sickie, they just take a day off. Cheaper for the public health system as well. Oh yeah, paid sick leave is on top of that, as are paid days for marriage, sorrow (deceased kin), child birth, etc.

Strong unions are a thing to behold. Why did the poll stop at 4 weeks anyway?

Per year:
3 Weeks Vacation
2 Weeks Floating Holidays (same as vacation)
2 Weeks Personal time (aka sick time, but you don't have to fake being sick when you call in. ;) )
8 Week mandatory (paid) Sabbatical every seven years.

When I first started I got 2 weeks, when I hit 3 years, I got an extra, so I'm at 3 now. I think after 10 years I get 4, I forget what the steps are.

Though because of my current shift work position I get way more vacation. Basically we work 160 hours per 4 week period, so because some of our shifts are 12 hours, it leaves lot of room for time off. For example, I'm off till Thursday, without having to use any vacation time. I love this job. (NOC technician).

It depends on the infraction and it's seriousness.

Calling out a Mod.
Posting pr0n or warez.
RMB.
Posting a link to the forum that shall not be named.
etc.

Oh you mean how much vacation time from work?
Whereas on the other hand, if you're a mod you neither get paid nor time off.:(

The state mandates a three week minimum here; it goes up to four weeks after ten years of service.

That's nowhere near enough time off, still. I don't know how some Americans manage. Gotta be miserable. :awe:

160 hours of PTO (4 weeks) + 10 holidays + every other Friday with 9/80 so there's always a vacation or long weekend right around the corner. Downside is sick time is included in the PTO, but we also have flex hours in case of appointments, etc so it still is pretty darn good.

25 days is legal minimum here (also paid sick days that are not included). I got 28 days this last year of working, now it's back to school.

I believe its around 2 weeks, but I have to earn that leave every 15 days. So every 15 days I get like 5 or so hours of both sick and annual leave. After a few years I believe that goes up to 8 per half month, I don't intend on sticking around long enough to earn that. Kind of sucks if you get hired and then sick, I suspect they will work with you on that otherwise its unpaid leave.

At least when I leave I'll get a decent pay check for all my unused leave :)

4 weeks of paid vacations per year, of which at least 2 weeks consecutive is the legal lower limit here.
They can't be reduced if you're sick or had an accident, unless you stay away from work for at least 1 month, after which for each month they cut 1/12 from your vacations.
They can't be reduced for maternity leave and stuff like that.

there was a popular initiative from the left some time ago which asked to increase it to 6 weeks, but it got rejected with 66% of the votes. Europeans were mad about us having the chance to control our country and still being responsible.

3 weeks of PTO, 1 week off between Christmas and New Year, plus 3 additional days. We're allowed to roll 2 weeks over every year and I generally do that, so I generally start a year with about 6.5 weeks total vacation time. That isn't including the other holidays either.

Sick time is separate and I have 30 days of that per year.

come oct, i'll move up to 4.4 weeks vacation a year and 15 days of sick time. sick time has no roll over crap and given the nearly 10 years i've been here, i'm up to some 800 hours of sick leave. if i ever leave, i will not get paid out for sick leave but then again i'm not going to have to worry about short term disability insurance while i'm here either

I work for a Health System so everything (vac, sick, holiday) is just in one PTO bucket. 0-5 years gets 26 days off a year with an additional 5 days 5+ years.

I passed my 5 yr mark this year so I get 3 weeks vacation and another 2 weeks of sick time to use as I please, so it's about 5 weeks total. At 10 years I get another week.

Plus all major holidays off, I think it's 8 or something.

156 hours a year for me (19.5 days) in annual leave. Can have a max of 240 hours so anything over that is must-use or you lose it at the end of the year.
104 hours of sick leave/year (13 days)
10 holidays every year
A week off between Christmas and New Years (unpaid or you can use leave)

Plus i can work for comp time instead of overtime and earn more leave to use if i want. If i dont use it in a year it just converts back to OT. Normally if i have 30 hours of OT on a check the rest ill work comp time since thats the point i jump to higher tax bracket and get raped. Always funny how if i work 30 hours i make x amount and ifi work 40 its barely more than the 30 hours check >.<

We earn 10hrs a month for years 1-5; 12hrs a month for years 6-10; & 14hrs a month for years >10.

We also get 8hrs sick leave a month.

The nice part is that we can roll over 360hrs a year and unlimited sick time. Obviously, no one EVER takes sick leave since they have to pay us out when we leave.

High school teacher, so a week at Christmas, a week in February, and I think a week some time in April - whenever it is that the kids are on break. Though, I generally have a lot of work to do from home during those weeks. Plus, about 8 weeks "off" during the summer. Though 10 of those days I'll be at required trainings/inservices, plus I'll need to put a couple hundred hours into redeveloping my curricula to match the new standards. (pita.) And, I'm thinking about writing an electronic geometry textbook, since they're really pushing us toward using electronic texts in the near future, and I'd like to say a big "F U" to over-priced textbook publishers.
