Same here, I'm waiting for Axelrod's Chicago-style political machine to kick into gear.

Hillary was a blessing in disguise. Her voters aren't buying the Palin ploy, and Hillary already used McCain's best material against Obama. Wright could have been a nice "October surprise" for McCain...instead, he's back-page news that the country has already heard and made a decision about.

NEWS FLASH: They didn't put Sarah on the ticket to grab the left over Hillary voters. That's McCain's job.

I said this in the other threads... Chris Matthews nailed it. She was brought on as a cultural juxtaposition to the Obamas. They aren't millionaires. They are Jane and Joe Sixpack with their five kids, their mortgage and their everyday existance. Smart, normal, common sense people who aren't out to craft an image.

She's a torpedo... with a rockin' bod and a sharp sense of humor.

Expect she isn't?

She's a ultra-conservative ex-beauty queen who's husband makes the big dollar, there is nothing average about her.

Prime example of sexism in action here.

She is the current governor of a US State, and you dismiss her as an "ex-beauty queen"?

And what info do you have the leads you to believe "the husband makes the big dollar?". I'd love to see where you came up with this...

Gee, I wonder why Tab would have mentioned her status as an "ex-beauty queen"... it couldn't possibly have anything to do with the fact that he was responding to someone who mentioned her "rockin' bod" could it?

As for her husband making the big dollar, assuming he is pulling a 6 digit salary as Whozeyerdaddy has indicated, the median household income of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough (home to Wasilla, where Palin was mayor) is $51,221, which would put their family in the upper crust even if he was the sole wage earner (which he isn't). The median household income of Alaska as a whole is still under $52,000, so if he's earning a 6 digit income and she's pulling in over $80,000 herself as governor, they're fairly well off.

Actually, he was responding to his whole post, not just the portion that you clipped out. I added back in the relevant part.
I added back the rest - that you didn't - for accuracy.

Obama is as qualified as Lincoln was and besides we don't need the kind of experience McCain and Phalin have, experience in failed policies.

Besides abusing her power to fire state employees and handing out half-billion dollar gas subsidies, no experience worth mentioning.

See that's what happens when you guys try to think without first listening to Rush and Hannity, you still get it wrong.

Who are you to decide what is relevant for other people?

You must be having problems following the discussion. I was responding to the discussion between Atomic Playboy, Tab, QED, and Whoozyerdaddy, which revolved around Whoozyerdaddy describing Sarah Palin and her family like this -

They aren't millionaires. They are Jane and Joe Sixpack with their five kids, their mortgage and their everyday existance. Smart, normal, common sense people who aren't out to craft an image.

She's a torpedo... with a rockin' bod and a sharp sense of humor.

Atomic Playboy cut the quote down to just this

She's a torpedo... with a rockin' bod and a sharp sense of humor.

I added back in the other part of Whoozyerdaddy's description of Palin and her family. That seems pretty relevant to me, how about you? Or you could just answer my previous question,

And what exactly does any of that have to do with what Atomic Playboy said?

This is actually a good example of repugs who think they know what is relevant for other people instead of letting other people decide for themselves.

Apparently you aren't aware that the mods frown upon nested quoting, thus the attempt to trim the quotes down to what appears to be relevant to the current discussion. Are you still confused?

Are you going to answer my question, or just keep dancing around it like a typical Dimocrat? Is that question "above your paygrade"?

Why the fuck is America so obsessed with putting Jane&Joe six-pack into office? Do they not realize what a collosal mistake that was the last two times they did it?

The President of the United States, IMHO, better be someone better than a regular schmuck hockey mom.

Both camps are taking the "rovian tactics" plan to the next level. Completely dominated by "gotchya" politics, character smears, painting a portrait of the "other person", blogs, innuendeo, etc. Completely evading taking any real stances on anything, or taking such high level stances that they are meaningless. It's all about now getting out the base.

We've learned nothing since 2000, it's only gotten worse.

When would those last two times be?

Or are we going to get around to talking about real issues??

The trash being pushed as news is just getting insane.

Let's hope this all ends soon and we can have McCain v. Obama on the issues.

Dems ALWAYS lose on the issues. This is why it always comes down to personal attacks.

But since Obama won't debate the issues, GOP's only resort is to attack him personally. I'm still waiting for the barrage of TV ads of Wright/Rezko/Ayers, etc. You spam "God damn America" and "I don't regret setting bombs" and flag burning and GOP wins.

OMG, that is the biggest load of crap I have even heard... the GOP ALWAYS goes to attacks... Its not because the dems wont debate issues, its because the reps lose on issues... especiually this time around.

Anyhow, lets not even go there... In the next several weeks, they have these things coming up that are actually called "debates" and Obama will sit with McCain, and Palin will sit with Biden and debate issues... It will be 100% televised so you can see it.

your argument is really retarded though.

I'm actually surprised by the level of hatred splashed on her and her family. Everyone wants an outsider... someone 'normal' to hold positions of power instead of the career do-nothing, corrupt politicians we always get stuck with. Well, here comes normal. Ready, aim fire. I guess normal isn't good enough if she doesn't have the right letter after her name.
Actually we're attacking her because of a combination of two things:

1) She's one of the most socially conservative candidates to run for the executive branch in decades.

2) She's one of the least experienced candidates to run for the executive branch in decades.

I have no problem with her being conservative.

Please tell me what experience BHO has that makes him more qualified to be Prez, much less VP?

He was a community organizer. Oooo-k. Sarah was in the PTA. Push
He was a state senator... and routinely refused to vote yes or no. PRESENT!
He is a US senator... who has not authored or passed a single piece of legislation. Sarah was/is a governor. Sarah wins.

Really... What has BHO does to make him more qualified?

You make it sound like it is ok that he is inexperienced because he will have an experienced VP. That is just wrong, when he is elected he will have to immediately go from do nothing ex-community organizer to leader of the free world.

Fixed.

Except you missed 8 years as a state senator and 3 as a US senator. Not that it matters to you, but you did miss it. I guess its the right's contention that he should have decended from the clouds earlier so he would get elected easier.

You must be following a different election than I am, as I would rate this about average for every popular election I have actively followed since 1964. Certainly behind GWB in 2000, LBJ/Goldwater in 64 and any Nixon campaign. The GOP is running their usual nonspecific smear campaign (tax & spend, inexperience seem to be the dominant themes this year), the only difference is the Dems are pushing back a little and calling the GOP out on specific hypocrisies. So far, in the hours of the GOP convention I have observed, I have not seen even a mention of policy positions on real issues, especially the dominant one, the economy.

Without a doubt this is a personality driven campaign, on both sides. McCain's callous selection of a token but unknown female has greatly accelerated this. Obama does frequently talk seriously and in depth on proposed policy and issues, McCain rarely strays from some voodoo economic position his campaign has determined can score political points.

Of modern elections, I would rank only Ford v. Carter as a clean, issue driven & hard fought campaign.

Ummm....yea, that was kinda the point. Not that it matters to you, but did you notice how smack Down missed everything that Palin has done since she was a beauty queen over 20 years ago?

The days of Ford n Carter are gone. America in pretty much going down hill from here no matter whos behind the wheel. Out nation debts and deficits are outrageous. We still dont export or even manufacture anything anymore for that matter. We are just buying services from India and commodities from China and selling them Jack. there is no way we can catch up with the deficit. Moreover our population is just exploding (if you include ppl jumping ans swimming) we are already the 3rd most populous country. Our current way of life just cannot handle that many ppl, unless someone makes some drastic changes its all useless and I havent heard anything close to that from anyone, so no matter what issues they take up its going to be just a small useless patch, even they know it...

MN this year is awash with political attack ads. Between the presidential ads and the Al Franken vs Norm Coleman race, I was sick of hearing about it long ago.

Topic Summary: Might already be the worst one in recent memory.

I thought the election of your George W. Bush was the ugliest thing ever to happen in a Presidential election... until it happened again. :(

But following that with four more years of John McShame and more of the same would give that a run for the money. :|

EXQUISITE thread crap! That is why you are the MAN! You go boy!
