all the smelly stuff goes into the city compost around here, including bones and meat scraps. all the smelly stuff is kept out of the garbage.

Ehhh, before fiance moved in, less than 1 bag every week.
After fiance moved in, 2 or 3 bags every week.

Split is about 1/2 trash and 1/2 recycle bin...

We have a black trash bin, a blue recycling bin and a green yard bin issued from the city. I believe they are all of the 96 gallon variety.

We generally fill them all each week (You do the math for 13 gallon bags and let me know for the poll. ;) )

Four people, two dogs and a fish (and for the last week, babysitting two turtles).

quite a bit. disposable diapers, and we order a lot of crap online so always lots of packaging materials to dispose of.

1 bag most weeks. Maybe 2 if we have visitors. Recycle bin is always filled to the top and has been mashed down several times. Family of 4.

I take the garbage out every week just because I hate to have decomposing food sitting around, but it's typically 1 x 50-75% full bag.

I don't generate enough recyclables to bother to use the can... I usually just drop my couple bottles of wine into my neighbor's recycling bin.

We have separate trash and recycle bins, and fill up bags for each of them. One of our old roommates would be the biggest / most awkward things into the trash - coat hangers, large cardboard boxes, milk jugs - and always fill it up so fast! ughhh

I have no idea how to relate it to the trash bags you talk about, since most of our trash isn't from that kind of source. During the winter we fill our city trash bin every 3 weeks or so, and during the summer every 2 weeks on average. I'm not positive how big they are, but I'd guess around 90-100 gallon or so.

I use 33 gallon bags. We go through about 3 a week on average.

33 gallon? And you keep that in your kitchen? Thats like the size of a outdoor can.

The 13 gallon is a regular size kitchen bag. I should know, I have a box of 200 of them from costco.

My city participates in Recycle Bank. I have recycled 3,200lbs worth of garbage since 5/1/2009. Regarding trash I would say I use about 1/3 of my 96 gallon container per week.
