I was just reading someone else's thread - they got a new job at age 22, making 33k to start. That is about what I was making when I first started working in my profression and I think that is pretty good.

At my next raise, I'm going to be 26. What pay should I have if I'm keeping up with the times?

edit:
It work in corporate Information Systems.

Find out what the increase is in the COL and ask for that. That should keep you up with the times.

Are you a Wall Street Trader? About $300,000
Are you a doctor? About $50,000
Are you an EMT? About $30,000
Are you....

Maybe added a little specificity, eh?

what is your profession, and how long have you been working in that profession, and what market do you live in

I'm going to throw out a number, $75k is about what everyone I know who is 26 is making, depending on the circle of friends I'm keeping. There's a dude making 20k, but that's because he's working at a nonprofit and he's a hippie

What locations and professions are those?

FYI, I'm making $50K (civil engineer) and I just turned 28. Granted, I live in a largely rural area in Mississippi, so the cost of living here is generally much lower than the large areas.

A doctor by 30 should be making 150,000+, right?
After residency?

you need the double majors. With only a CS degree, you're competing with the Indians for jobs. not cool.

Do you work Help Desk or are you the Senior Network Admin for a 1000+ node network? There's a huge difference in jobs and pay depending on your job and responsibilities.

I'd be surprised if you can be a full doctor at age 26 (except doogie howser? :) )

you'd still be doing residency at that age. so 50k is still being generous on average.

edit: unless you are rolling your eyes that they actually make quite less than 50k at 26 yo... around 35k..

Both. We don't separate level 1 and level 2, and we don't have seniors and non-seniors.

You'll never get a straight answer to this on ATOT. Everyone here has a super-easy job, drives awesome cars, and makes $100k.
