Fresh out of med school in an internship, you make less than that. As a resident you can make more than that by moonlighting.

You have to finish your residency before the bucks roll in.

so, right back at ya.

I heard something once that stuck with me though it's very general. For a regular job, you should make your age x $1000. If you're good at what you do, double it. If you're very good at what you do, triple it. Obviously that's a very very general rule. Personally, I'm with spidey on this. If I'm happy with my lifestyle and I can afford the things I want, then I'm ok. I doubt I'll ever be rich, but I'd like to be comfortable and I have simple needs.

u cant determine how much u should be making by age. salary is different between location and profession.

im 25 and i make 110k+ now but that was only because i got tired of my 65k job this past summer. i am just lucky.

i am 26 but i only make 55k. I am not comfortable on this salary and neither is my wife. Things are always tight despite living in a modest home and we have two used cars.

Hrmm...age * 1000 = 31k for me. Considering I just finished my degree in May and am doing better than that I'm definately happy. :)

All these guys saying $100K at age 26 like they just go out and get that kind of money. In most professions, mine included, you're bound by what the market will bear. It doesn't matter how good at my profession I am, $100k is out of reach. I'd even venture to say $75k is out of reach until I have many years of supposed experience. Which totally sucks for an engineer with a master's degree.

I'll try to answer honestly.

With four years and a degree under your belt in IT you should be at 65-70K for an average cost of living area. But then again, it all depends on what your responsibilities are.

If you want to really know how much you should be making, start interviewing and see what the going rate is for your skills.

Depends on where he lives.

How many kids?

Does the wife work?

How much is that Modest house.

My modest house 140K If I drive up to the House closer to work that same place with 1/4 thge yard is gonna cost me $275K minimum.

So it is realative.

IT? As in help desk/network stuff? I don't know about that. For a programmer, yeah.

The kind of doctor that's doing his/her residency. You didn't read the entire thread, now did you?

Spidey knows his sh!t. He gives me hope that I can grow my IT position in a hefty chunk of change...always a plus when the work is enjoyable. :)

For a brand new grad? IMO, that's pretty damn sporty. I tend to think I got pretty lucky with my starting salary as a new grad.

Depends on what he/she does. There are some people working in our IS department that doesn't even deserve the $35k.
