I realistically know that I won't even use them in a new computer since I'll use 3TB hard drives and an SSD in anything new.... and anything worth less than $100 isn't worth the pain of putting it on ebay and driving it to the post office.

I've got a $1800 turbocharger sitting out in the garage that really needs to go on ebay, but it's such a pain. It's been out there for ~2 years.

Essentially when considering my dislike of clutter, how painful it is to ebay stuff, and the value of things, if it's less than $100, it's going in the garbage.

Any way I could convince you to throw it away in my direction?

I throw away hardware without any problem. Boxes, cables and screws are my big problem.

you call that a problem amount of cables? amateur.

Well you see, we run into the laziness problem. Not that I don't put any value on helping out other people, but going to the post office? It's kind of a bridge too far. You'd have to be like a make-a-wish kid for that to happen.

If it's any consolation, they don't do any kind of recycling around here, so all of those electronics go right back into mother earth. It's been a while since high school science class, but I'm pretty sure that kind of stuff biodegrades pretty rapidly and puts a lot of nutrients back in the soil. 😀 Speaking of which, my old Sony Ericsson X1a is looking at me funny from it's box on the shelf... it needs to go soon.

A few things which I've been trying to get rid of/sale - most have just been sitting around for years. Been trying to clear out anything that I haven't been using or need by either ecycling [goodwill] or ebay if it doesn't weigh Eleventybillion tons [laser printers].

I use to have the "I may need that part" mentality - but I'd honestly prefer less clutter vs storing something I may never use or becomes obsolete.

Couple of Laser printers I'm dismantling to sneak into the company ecycling bin. 🙂

- Minolta 2300W laser printer - the toner cartridges leaked all over the inside [I musta screwed up when I refilled them]. So I found a cheap new Samsung color laser printer on sale which was cheaper than buying 4 replacement toners for the 2300w. And..the 2300w doesn't have Windows 7 driver support - so it needed to be replaced anyway.
- Old IBM 4019 monochrome laser printer - still works, but only parallel port mode, very loud, and very power hungry.

I've been ebaying other components - a few bucks here, a few there.. it adds up overtime. That's money in my pocket which can be used to upgrade or put away for a "computer break down rainy day" 🙂

About 8 computers in various stages of disassembly, two full size bookcases (4x8 roughly) full of extra components and old books and software, plus a bunch of random loose crap as well.

I've only got a couple of boxes and it only goes back about 10 years.
I think the oldest part I still have is my Voodoo 3.

No kidding. He could probably make a quick/easy deal with an AT'er to send him a prepaid box and cash to fill up with the old 1TB hard drives and GTX2xx series video cards. Several of each would easily be worth a couple hundred bucks.

4 large containers (bins) for various smaller items/cords, i think there are 2 or 3 mobo/cpu/ram combos in boxes around. few cases, numerious HDDs from 1.4-200 GB lying around, few vid cards, hell the only thing i dont seem to have a lot of is PSUs

I read "old keyboards"

If any are IBM Model M keyboards or similar (keyboards with mechanical switches), don't throw them out, they are valuable!!!

I wish model Ms came in ergonomic designs... there's only one such design I know of, and it's virtually impossible to find anywhere...

I just cleaned out my storage area (haven't touched garage yet) and I have 2 large trash bags full of computer crap, old cables, old boxes, bags and bags of screws.

Garage will be worse, I have a couple laundry baskets full of old motherboards, keyboards, crap like that.

nail em all to the wall in the garage or something. makes interesting wall art.
