I have no idea why I'm charged 200-300 per month.

and can you post your usage in kWh if you remember?

for me, in Dec, I used 1546 kWh? does that sound normal?
in Jan, it was 1581 kwh. In November and October, it didn't even break 300 kWh.
 
you have electric heat?

if not check how many watts your furnace blower uses but i don't see that causing that huge of a jump.

i average 550-850kwh/month
 
My last bill was for $41.14 / 284 kWh = $0.145 / kWh

My electrical load consists of a refrigerator, stove, countertop electric oven, lamp, 2 computers with 2 monitors.
 
$30-35 per month (150-220 kwh). I think my dryer, water heater, and furnance is gas so my main loads are lights, refridge, dishwasher, clotheswasher, computer, etc.

edit: I live my myself in ~500 sqft 1 bedroom apartment. In the summer it is $10-$25 higher due to AC. Upstate NY.
 
My roommate said that for 6 months, the rate is fixed at $115/month. Come some time later in the year, they come to read the meter and send us a bill that accounts for whatever extra we used in that time frame.

Sorry, don't know the kWhr rate. Though, it is a gas-heated apartment in Chicago and there are 5 of us living in it.
 
Probably would help to specify whether you are living in an apartment, townhouse, single family home, or with your parents. 😛 And probably, what region you live in.

I'm like middlehead in reverse though. I get violently beatdown in the summer due to how much it takes to cool my house down in Georgia.

Holy geez.

My bill comes every 3 months and is usually $30-40 (so like $10 a month). I live in a 2 br apartment.

No gas bill either.

JESUS!!! There's no way. Wow. That's an insane amount of power man. Someone must be stealing your power, there's no damn way a 1 bedroom apartment can use that much power.

That's 4x what my mom's HOUSE uses.

Last month it was about $45 bucks for 3BR, 1300 sq foot house. I've got lots of high efficiency bulbs and try to conserve, most of that 45 is from my 2 fridges and playing around on the computer.
