JESUS!!! There's no way. Wow. That's an insane amount of power man. Someone must be stealing your power, there's no damn way a 1 bedroom apartment can use that much power.

That's 4x what my mom's HOUSE uses.

no clue, but its def. what I am paying...its also been very cold recently up here.

typically $60-90/month... 700 sq ft 1-bedroom. sometimes spikes a bit higher in the winter if I forget to turn my heat off when I leave for work (I usually keep the thermostat at 68-70 when I'm home and awake in the winter, and turn it down to 60 when I go to sleep and leave it down till I get home the next day)

Holy geez.

My bill comes every 3 months and is usually $30-40 (so like $10 a month). I live in a 2 br apartment.

No gas bill either.

I'm amazed he hasn't been raided by the police for growing weed yet, jesus. My parents 2800 square footer in summer in texas with a pool only uses like 1500 kwh

You know, I hear that from everybody in Hawaii. For those of us that live on the mainland that need to heat our homes, your energy costs are on par or less. For me, it's less.

As I said, you're not alone in your thinking. Everyone I get talking to on the islands laments about electric costs. I think it's a bargain.

Last billing period;

622 KWH = $75.18

Natural Gas = $168.25

Fluctuates wildly from nearly $100 in the winter - to over $500 in August. 3br townhouse - 4 people, 2 significant others, nearly a dozen computers - 3 large TV sets (tubes), fridge, oven, AC, ceiling fans, etc.

2br Apt, and we usually get a bill around $45-60 a month. Not too bad considering we seem to use less than most of the single apartments surrounding us.

2BR 1st floor condo, 1650sq-ft. ~$140 this winter (about same when AC is running in the summer).

In January I used 502 kwh, for a bill of $48.

In the August when I use the AC the most, my bill will be almost double that.

I have a a bi-level house, about 2300 square feet total. I live in Wyoming. I have gas heat, but have an electric clothes dryer and oven/range. I live alone, so that helps to keep the costs down.

I'm like middlehead in reverse though. I get violently beatdown in the summer due to how much it takes to cool my house down in Georgia.

$59 last month, it can be double that during the summer for a 2 bedroom apartment. I live around Phoenix. I don't heat during the winter (it stays in the 60's inside the apartment at the very worst) and we keep it around 78 during the summer.

and can you post your usage in kWh if you remember?

for me, in Dec, I used 1546 kWh? does that sound normal?
in Jan, it was 1581 kwh. In November and October, it didn't even break 300 kWh.

square footage may sort of matter in this mix, along with region and effective HVAC age.

Same house in 1995 used $300 a month in electric, I upgraded my 10 year old system and my a/c averaged $100 a month and was much cooler. S. Florida, 2000 sq feet.

Your numbers have to be off. You're saying you pay $.50 to $1.00 per kWh?

In response to this thread, my 1800 sq ft., gas heat, 2 bed townhouse, used 560kWh last month. Bill was $70. That's higher than average. I'm usually below 500kWh per month.

Around 200 in the winter and close to 400 sometimes in the summer due to all the A/C usage.

The best deal I could get was 13.6 cents per kWh when I moved in with a new roommate. Both of us are power users. (Computers, 24" monitors, printers, routers, tv in each room etc).

Our latest bill was 621 kWh. Everything in our APT is electric: stove, fridge, dishwasher, regular washer, drier, including the heater.

After the base charge and taxes, the bill was 90.xx .
