Don't go to Ruth Chris.

Damn steak is like $40. And that is without sides. And its not any better than a steak you can get at Red Lobster.

ok folks, so i had it last night. i think its overrated and overpriced. ive had better and slightly less expensive steak in cleveland and chicago. the quantities were laughable. totally not worth it.

Thanks for the review and recommendation. I will cost off that place as one of the places we want to try out. Man... $9 for the side diskes. :Q

All of your upscale steakhouses will be like that. Everythings "a-la-carte".

It's been like that at all the ones I've been to at least, except for Texas de Brazil, which is all you can eat.

Not all! Dovans in La Jollia(sp?) gives you the sides included, and in the Bar area they have free bite size Filet Mignon sandwiches. Somebody from ATOT recommended the place to me. Was better then Ruth IMHO. They have a bigger menu and like I said, them including the sides ++++

Ruth is good though, I want to try Mortons heard it's great also.

don't laugh -I was craving steak and ran to Red Lobsters, mostly for the biscuits. For $20 with tax and tip, I walked out having a fairly good strip steak with sides and a drink.. Not bad, actually.

That's a bunch of crap. I have had steaks all over the place, mostly paid for by other people (I love my job) and I have ordered everything in every way.

For larger chains, I'd have to say Mortons and then Ruth's Chris. Smaller ones, Palm is decent, along with Capital Grill in the DC area. If you want the best steaks you gotta go to more local joints.

i know it's not the same, but the prime rib at the "house of prime rib" in San francisco is by far the best prime rib ive had. =)

Why would you pay so much to go to a chain restaurant? Support local business FTW.

St. Elmo's in Indianapolis is fantastic, but expensive. My favorite steak place ever is Original Joe's in San Francisco. It may be in the Tenderloin District, but its great steak!

I like Ruth's Chris just fine, but Bone's in Atlanta is easily better.

I also agree Ruth's Chris is a stupid name. :p

Credit them for pretty much everyone in the US recognizing it though. And don't tell me it's the steaks and high prices that gave them that name recognition.

Yup, both Bone's and Chops in Atlanta are much better. I was really disappointed with Ruth's Chris steak and consider it only marginally better than something like Outback and Longhorn. Nice thing about Chops is that you can buy the Ultimate card from the Buckhead Life restaurant group and use it at any of their restaurants like Atlanta Fish Market, Chops/Lobster Bar, etc. They occassionally run 10-20% added value special on the Ultimate card. Couple months ago when they ran the special for extra 20%, I paid $500 and got $600 value in Ultimate gift card. I was told they're going to run the extra 20% special again in December so I will again buy some for Christmas gifts.

i agree, it's a really stupid name. and for an "upscale" steak restaraunt, this place is crap IMO. stay away from this chain and lonestar! a good steak chain in the northeast (Philly suburbs, PA) is charlie browns IMO.

it used to be called Chris Steak house and after Ruth bought it, she just added her name in the front.

best stakehouse ever got shutdown. I swear the guy butchered the meat in the morning, marinated it all day and then cooked it that night. Place was always packed, but took cash only... wonder why it got shut down....IRS?

I definately wouldn't want to go to a big chain like this for a nice steak. and btw, charlie browns sucks.

NYC is the place to go for a nice steak.

Also, anyone from Jersey been to River Palm Terrace? There are 3 of them I believe, pretty similar, just atmosphere is a little different. VERY good steaks, and the prices are pretty decent.

i hate these kinds of threads. now i'm hungry for a steak. really bad.

i have never been to the place, but i 4th, 5th, and 6th the notion that Ruth's Chris's Steak House is the worst name ever. I'd rather go to a local joint.
