Damn steak is like $40. And that is without sides. And its not any better than a steak you can get at Red Lobster.

That's a bunch of crap. I have had steaks all over the place, mostly paid for by other people (I love my job) and I have ordered everything in every way.

For larger chains, I'd have to say Mortons and then Ruth's Chris. Smaller ones, Palm is decent, along with Capital Grill in the DC area. If you want the best steaks you gotta go to more local joints.

There is a Capital Grille here in Charlotte too, and it is most excellent.

Ruth & Chris is alright.. There are better steakhouse chains like Mortons, Del Frisco's, Smith & Wollensky. The best steakhouses here in Vegas that I have found are Charlie Palmer and the steakhouse at Circus Circus.

Ruth Chris is ok, but seriously over-priced ... In NYC Smith & Wollensky is better, so is The Palm & Peter Lugers ... I'd even give Sparks the edge personally, although all these places are pretty damn expensive if you like to drink with dinner! (I've spent $200+ on just me a couple times!)

Near where I live in Connecticut theres a place called Chucks thats pretty close to as good as any of the above & costs much much less, however the best steaks I've ever had have all been cooked by me, at home on my grill!

There was a place in the RTP area called Angus Barn--I'd been there a few times but I've never had one of their signature steaks (was a poor college student at the time.) I definately have to go back and check it out!

If you're ever in Indianapolis try St. Elmo's.

Only place I've ever had a steak you could cut with a fork.

Regrettably I wasn't too hungry when I got there, so I settled for their Martini and Shrimp Cocktail.

imo, I love Houston's in Pasadena, CA. Their steak are not too expensive and tasted good.

not being a fan of Primerib, I can't be too critical but I think the place is overhype. Their primerib wasn't bad, but wasn't spectacular neither. There's a place in Arcadia, CA named Woodranch that serves a pretty good Prime Rib.

Not all! Dovans in La Jollia(sp?) gives you the sides included

its Donovans on RainWater in La Jolla. I read about it and always wanted to try.

anyone tried Peter Luger in NYC?

oh, I also tried this place in Chicago where there's a big metal cow in the waiting area. The place is named after a dude who looks like Colonel Sanders. The steak was quite awesome (Rib Eye) and the bill for 2 came out to be $120. (with sides and a glass of wine)

I'll put my 2 cents in-
I found the service absolutly great.
The food was not nearly as good as the other premium Seattle steak houses I've been to (Metropolitan Grill, Daniels Broiler). Not even close really.
That said, the food was still "good" but not worth the $125+ i spent on 2 people there.
It was a positive experience, like I said, great service. But the steak we got was disapointing. I've talked to people w/ the same opinion. I may jsut be spoiled by Daniel's steak.

I gotta admit, the service at Ruth Chris is really good. Peter Luger still has the best steaks, though! I'm suprised that someone hasn't made a chain of those yet.

Capitol Grill is good too. I know there is a place in DC, and i'm sure a couple other cities too.

Another vote for Texas De Brazil in downtown Fort Worth. The bacon wrapped chicken is to die for. $100 for two, drinks not included.

Reunion Tower (Antares) in Dallas is also nice. $125 for two, rotating restaurant included. ;)

I think the best steak I have ever had is the Jamaican steak from Hops. Hops is a Florida chain, I believe, but they have locations in other parts of the country. The 1st time I went there, I was on Dale Mabry highway in Tampa.

NYC is the place to go for a nice steak.
Any specific recommendations? I've been to BLT Steak once and Smith & Wollensky 3 times.

Uncle Jack's Steakhouse, on 9th and 34th in Manhattan, was hands down the best meal experience I have ever had. Impeccable service, massive portions and amazing quality. My business partner and I took a client there for dinner after a convention at the Javits, and we all loved it. It's not cheap - for the six of us, the bill with tip came to $751, and there was no wine on there, just some mixed drinks, and no dessert. My partner and I split a 20 oz. Kobe strip and a 22 oz. lobster tail, though; that added a bit to the bill. :D Overall very reasonable on a per person basis, we thought.
