2004 TL.
Probably because its 6 speed manual. 6th is pretty tall and worhless under 70 Mph. I'd say the rpms are around 3K

What difference does it make? If it's too hot put the A/C on. My comfort is worth more than $1.00 worth of gasoline.

mph has nothing to do with fuel economy. Fuel economy is based solely on what speed the engine is running at. a car running at 4000 rpm uses more gas than a car using 2000 rpm. If your going a 1000mph in a crappy 4 cylinder and your in gear 4 and the engine has to kick up the rpm to 4-5 just to maintain speed then yeah ittll drink fuel, but lets say your in a 6, at 100mph you could be goin 2.5k rpm in 6th gear....
RPM > mph in terms of fuel economy

Actually, Mythbusters showed that AC barely used more gas but putting your windows down caused enough drag to considerably hurt fuel economy.

if you are hot, make it cold with the A/C

it doesn't matter how much gas it uses
