How much does the average house go for?

Average new condo price: $225K.
Average new towhnouse price: $350K.
Average new single family price: $600K.

Area = about 25 - 30 miles west of Washington, DC

Depends on where you live. A 1500 sq. ft. house in a small midwestern town might go for $65,000. In a big city: $165,000. In Chicago or San Fran: $350,000.

If you can successfully locate 10 homes within San Francisco that are in "livable" condition for $350K, I'll take all of 'em. 😉

True. We're building a home in a Phoenix suberb for $207k. My wife thinks it's expensive, but I think of how much worse it could be.

ps: sorry for not adding that earlier...lacking sleep.

We just bought a newly built home of that size for $130k. I know someone else looking at the same size house that was built in the 60s that is in the $90k range.

$400k for a 60-year old 3-bedroom. Yes, that's avg.

We bought ours 2 years ago for $330k. Kinda glad we did it then...

in this area we have a ton of older houses like that (early and pre 1900's), they range between 30k to 850k for new construction, depending on school district, lake access etc. assuming you're talking about houses on lots of 1 acre or less, when you add acreage, add in anywhere between 8k/acre - 40k per acre depending on location as before. (when you live with a realtor you get surprised at the vast differences of living in one area of town vs. another)

I wish I could get into a decent home for 350K, the average house costs $673,000 here. Looking around the past year or so, $350K buys a 1,000sq ft condo. It sucks being a first time buyer.

My causin just purchased a similar house w/ 3/4 finished basement, + 1/2 Bath, No yard, 1 car garage (useless cause they have two cars)... $135K in Southern Minnesota.

Depending on the exact area, 250,000 (lower income suburb) to 750,000 (newer, high class suburb). This is about 20-30 miles east of Sacramento

I'd say the average home like that is $150,000 in Lincoln Nebraska. Two years ago that would be $100,000 here.

Damn, what I'm trying to save up for a decent downpayment of 20% could buy a house in a lot of other areas. (About $80k)
