True. We're building a home in a Phoenix suberb for $207k. My wife thinks it's expensive, but I think of how much worse it could be.

We just bought a newly built home of that size for $130k. I know someone else looking at the same size house that was built in the 60s that is in the $90k range.

in this area we have a ton of older houses like that (early and pre 1900's), they range between 30k to 850k for new construction, depending on school district, lake access etc. assuming you're talking about houses on lots of 1 acre or less, when you add acreage, add in anywhere between 8k/acre - 40k per acre depending on location as before. (when you live with a realtor you get surprised at the vast differences of living in one area of town vs. another)

I wish I could get into a decent home for 350K, the average house costs $673,000 here. Looking around the past year or so, $350K buys a 1,000sq ft condo. It sucks being a first time buyer.

My causin just purchased a similar house w/ 3/4 finished basement, + 1/2 Bath, No yard, 1 car garage (useless cause they have two cars)... $135K in Southern Minnesota.

I'd say the average home like that is $150,000 in Lincoln Nebraska. Two years ago that would be $100,000 here.
