Damn..I love pull ups![]()
Because you weigh next to nothing![]()
That's because I watch my weight through diet and exercise. Besides, those numbers are pretty good for someone knocking on age 40![]()
Are you a male or a female? If you are a male (and depending on your height), that weight may not be beneficial. As humans age, we suffer from the age-related (and hypokinetic disease) sarcopenia. Sarcopenia literally means "flesh wasting." Essentially, it's the disease coining age-related muscle loss. Problems associated with sarcopenia are low bone density, low VO2max, low force production, and eventually hindrance of daily activities. These conditions may not sound severe, but VO2 max is a high inverse correlate with death rate (low VO2max correlated with increased risk of death). Whether you're male or female, you definitely should think about getting on a resistance training program. Endurance athletes suffer from sarcopenia just like everybody else (probably worse, actually). Be sure to avoid that. It's not fun to be helpless. If you up your muscle mass, you up your maximal force, and you lengthen the time that you can live comfortably. Seriously, think about it.
You scared me there. I'm male, 5'4". Should I be concern of Sarcopenia? Aren't pulls ups resistance training exercises coz you basically pull your own weight? Pull ups actually gave me muscle mass on my back, abdomen, biceps and a little on the chest.
Also, my only exercise program are pull ups, push ups (with kids as weights on my back) and squats (with kids as weights) and I guess walking with family. No time for gym coz I'd rather spend time with kids than with Iron![]()
weight 159
~18 pullups but I have to be fresh
I can probably do sets of 10 all day long though
chins no idea
There are alot more body weight exercises than pullups, pushups and air squats
I recommend Building the Gymnastic body by Chris Somner
does not require much equipment just a pullup bar and a dip bar and you can make your own parallettes for about $20
it does require ring work eventually but by that time you will be pretty advanced.
here is a thread on the book:

You can find the PDF online but I found the content worth it so I just bought the book to support the author.
I am just working on getting 2 star difficulty on everything and then i'll move on to 3 star etc.

There we go. You're quite short so you should be ok. Yes, pullups are a resistance exercise, but they are not the base of a solid resistance regimen. You need to include exercises like squats, military press, bench press, weighted pulls, and rows at the very least. It's good to spend time with your kids and I believe the training you're doing should be enough.
