Tshirt - Never buy..... People either buy or give me so damn many I can't recall buying one in the past 10 years or so.

Jeans - $30
Khakis - $25
Dress shirt - $20

Shoes - $25-$100

Shoes deserve subcategories. Decent running shoes and hiking boots cost a little more..... $50-100. Only buy New Balance running shoes and Vasque hiking boots.

Now dress shoes I go cheap. 25-35 at Target. They sit on the ends of my feet while occupying the space under my desk for most of my work day.

I get t-shirts as gifts, but being 5'4" and an XS size (not female), most of them are too damn big and look like dresses. Worst thing a short person can do is wear over-sized clothes.

Damn dress shoes... I haven't bought a new pair in 5 years. I haven't worn that or any other pair in at least two. Think that pair was a good $70 even on sale though -- sweat shop Tommy Hilfiger. They feel terrible with a rock hard sole.

Dress shirt - $70
Jeans - $90
T-shirt - $30
Slacks - $60
Suit - $700
Casual shoes - $90
Dress shoes - $120
Running shoes - $140

I typically don't spend that much though. Most of my clothes is Banana Republic or Gap outlet stuff.

I buy most of my clothing from outlets or places like Burlington Coat Factory or TJ Max. The only stuff I really pay full price for are shoes. I just don't have good experience with buying cheap/knock off shoes.

Got a pair of $30 Reboks at Burlington and literally they fell apart within 2 weeks. Same with dress shoes...The shine is virtually gone and they scuff up super easy.

So I am much more willing to pay $70-100 for a nice, new pair of oxfords, loafers or boat shoes, but not willing to pay that for designer pants, shirts, etc.

It ranges for me.

In general, I only go for sales. No - REAL sales, not that bullshit they call sales.

~$40 Jeans - I tend to go for brands like Lucky. They fit me much better for some reason
~$25 Shirts/Shorts - This includes button-up shirts/etc
~$40-50 Work Dress Shirts - SPECIFICALLY work shirts.
~$200 - $500 suits. It can completely vary. Depends on the sale. Depends on the brand. However, I can't stand cheap shit suits. Might as well have a sign on your back.

Surprised to see such modest numbers on ATOT, I thought everyone here shopped at a minimum at Burberry and Louis Vuitton

I tend to spend a lot more on shoes and work clothes. For stuff I wear around the house Walmart/Kohls is fine.

I buy clothes maybe a couple times of year. Usually it's t-shirts, socks, and underwear that wear out the quickest. Maybe buy 1 or 2 pairs of jeans and shorts a year. 1 pair of shoes a year. 1 jacket/coat a year. I always try to buy name brand higher quality stuff so it lasts longer, with the exception of socks/underwear which are pretty much disposable anyways. Under Armour is a great brand for t-shirts and shorts.

My typical price range for clothing:
~$40/pair - Jeans
~$15-25 - T-shirts
~$20-30 - Shorts
~$50-120 - Shoes
~$10 - Socks
~$10 - Underwear

BTW, I buy ALL of my clothing online. I HATE shopping for clothes at the store.

Not very much. ~$20 for pants and shirts, ~$40 for tennis shoes, and I get a lot of time out of them too. The shoes and shirt I'm wearing right now are about eight years old, and my pants about four years old.

We are an odd bunch. We'll bitch about spending $30 on a pair of pants then go spend $200 on a bluetooth door lock.

It wasn't that long ago that you could buy 3 or 4 outfits online, on clearance with a coupon code for under $100. I remember my AE army coat I got for something like $10 shipped. But those days are gone and mongers tend to buy up all the good b&m deals. So I settle for good quality at an ok price.

Depends. There are some things that are definitely worth spending more money on, within reason. That would be jeans and button-down shirts for me. I started dropping extra $$$ on that stuff and there's a big difference in quality and fit.

That being said, there's a cutoff. I'm fine with spending $65-70 on a fitted, high-quality button-down shirt. I've seen a few for $120+ that would be stupid to purchase. There's no way in hell a cotton button-down shirt could be worth well north of $100. Jeans are similar; there's a difference between $35 and $85 jeans, but there's no way $250 jeans could be THAT good. You have to use your best judgement and if you really like something, go for it (unless it's a retarded price).

None at all. Does it fit? Good enough. Maybe if I gave more of a shit I wouldn't die alone.

The only exceptions are shoes and coats.

I also buy a new coat at every season change. I don't set a budget but I try to keep it under $200.

You must have like a hundred jackets now. Why do you buy so many?

I have quite a bit of clothing, but I don't buy new coats every year. However, if it's on sale and it fits right, and isn't ugly, I buy it. I's really hard to find a coat that fits me right and has the movement in the arms I like.

I probably spend like the typical american male. I will pay for quality. Though I have no qualms about throwing out clothes and buying fresh stuff. Old clothes look crappy. They aren't crisp and it's painfully obvious. Unless you're going for the dirty hipster bullshit go out and buy some new threads.

One thing I upgraded is the suit. Never again will I wear a suit that isn't custom tailored for me by a professional tailor. There is a huge difference and it's immediately noticeable by you and everyone looking at you in the suit.

Nope. I currently don't have any jackets other than my beat up ass Columbia windbreaker.

I donate them after the season is done. It makes me feel good to think that someone is getting a nice coat instead of a used $20 Walmart special. I know they probably go to one of their retail stores, but still I can pretend.

Its a little brisk out today (in the 40's). Looks like its time to go coat shopping!

Have you ever considered buying a nice $700 down parka for winter and keeping it for 5 years instead of buying new cheap coats every winter? That's what I did, no regrets on buying the Canada Goose parka, quality product made by people earning a first world wage.

Nope. I like new stuff.

And I would not call a $200 coat cheap. Unless I was a troll.

Dress shirt [€40]
Jeans [€50]
T-shirt [€15]
Slacks [€40]
Suit [€200]
Casual shoes [€70]
Dress shoes [€90]

That's expensive.

My list:

Dress shirts ($20 - on sale at TJ Marx)
Jeans ($30 - on sale at Sams Club)
T-shirts ($1 or less - after $10 coupon from JC Penney and clearance section)
Slacks ($20 - on sale at Sams Club or JCP or Dillards)
Suite ($500 - after clearance sale/end of season and adjustment cost from tailor)
Casual shoes ($50 - after coupon and sale)
Dress shoes ($100 - after coupon and sale)

You don't have to wait until you need it to buy clothes and accessories. If you have coupons and things are on sale, buy them to save money for later. They won't go bad/expire as food items.
