How is it $0 then ? 😵

lol, yeah if you rounded it over the course of my life it would be probably $.50 or something. We eat out maybe twice a year though so the main question doesn't really apply to me.

I gotta beat the dealman on this one. 🙂

mtvU card

5% back at restaurants, entertainment, and bookstores plus silly stuff like points just for paying your bill on time. Yeah, its points not cash, but the extra amount makes up for it.

Points on the thank you network are very worthless in my book. 1,500 pts for a $10 GC to a "coffee shop". 1500 pts, assuming all 5 pts per dollar purchases, $300.

That comes out to be roughly 3.3%. You might come out ahead on the airline ticket, but that is very optimistic. Nothing beats cash. I also use Chase Cash Rewards, Costco Amex True Rewards, and Discover Card during their 5% promos.

Back to main discussion: About $150 a month, mainly fast food.

Too much, but I have been cutting down. Also trying to eat less "fast" food when eating out, and instead make a few visits to nicer restaurants. 🙂

Thats why you have them send you a check to pay for "student loans". That and air tickets are the two best ways to get your money back.

man... i miss those days. before i was married, i lived in an apartment within walking distance to my office. i could go home and watch ST: TNG at lunch hour and have a little nap on my very own couch. pretty tough to beat.

Yeah, it's pretty nice. I'll come home for lunch and have leftovers from the previous nights dinner and get in a little XBox time. 🙂

My wife, on the other hand, takes her lunch with her almost every day.

i gotta start bringing more lunches.

only thing is... i'm in the field 2-3 days per week with my job. i could bring a sandwich and stuff and i have before but i am pretty much hooked on fast food.

Typically $0. It is much cheaper and more enjoyable to cook your own food.

For some meals, it just takes too much prep time and cooking time to actually be able to sit down and enjoy your meal at home. Some of the best restaurant meals I've had, it's more than 2 hours from the time you sit down til the time you leave, and none of that time is spent waiting for your food to arrive. I could easily prepare similar meals for guests, but it would not allow me any time at all to sit and enjoy my meal, nor would it allow me time to enjoy the company of my guests.

Hmmm... all this talk about restaurants... I'll have to take the wife out one night this week for some nice big ribeyes and 1 pound lobster tails. Fresh baked bread with the meal, real salad (no iceberg lettuce), homemade soup,...)
