was just going thinking about this earlier today, just how much dough do i really spend eatin out?
mon-fri - $10-20 a day
weekend - $20-30

so in a given month i spend between $280 to $520, averaging $400 big ones a month! (damn)

basically if i stopped going out to eat i could rent out an apartment!(with a rommie) with that money alone

so guys, just how much ching do you spend on grub outside the house?

I'm actually going a week without eating out anywhere..I started on Tuesday. It's not that bad once you've gone without it for a few days.

Probably about 10 bucks.

I used to try to force myself to eat out once a week. I'm a real good cook, mostly because I like to eat well. If I had the money maybe I'd eat out a lot. But the fact is you don't know what they're putting in the food when you eat out. That goes for even the most expensive restaurants. I shop for myself, so I have a fair idea what I'm eating. For example, I wash my fruits and vegetables very well compared to what you'll eat in a restaurant. I had one temporary job at the local university and the cook got cross with me because I wanted to actually wash the potatoes well. Nobody who ate his potatoes got them as clean as the ones I prepare for myself. When I eat a salad at a restaurant I figure it hasn't been properly cleaned. It's possible it has, but I figure the odds aren't good.

Just eating out? I try to limit myself to once a week, so maybe $10/week, or $40/month - many weeks I will skip this as well. This doesn't include meeting up with a friend to get coffee or something, that's probably another $10 or so every month.

Eating out accounts for $50 or less at most every month - I hate to see a high CC statement because of bad choices in eating, not only does it cost more, it's probably unhealthy.

About $15 a day at the cafeteria at work during the week, and about $20 for one good meal out during the weekend.

So, about $450 a month total. Damn, that's too much.

Mine is purely due to the cash...I don't care what goes into my food, it hasn't killed me yet.

It varies a lot. Sometimes eating out means a pizza or something like that. Other times, eating out means surf and turf for two.

There's some truth to that, sure. I'm not as dedicated as a lot of people to wholesome ingredients, not by a longshot. But I do think about it, you bet, and it figures into my choices. I don't just ignore all that information.

damn, double post for some reason.

Last year we averaged $203.01 per month on dining out. This includes a few lunches that my wife treated to her team when they reached milestones in their project.

I budget $240 / month for food, I usually don't spend that much.

I triy to go 3-4 days during the work week without eating out. Sometimes I make it, sometimes I don't!

<$10 per month.
I spent a few dollars at a Burger King last week. The other regular recipient of my money is Dunkin Donuts, for their Coffee Coolatta - a lightly crunchy slushy mix of coffee, milk, and a lot of sugar. It's perfect. 😀
But there are no Dunkin Donuts anywhere Erie, PA, so they're getting exactly $0 during the time I'm in college.
I don't eat out at regular restaurants because I don't care for the open areas or the social environment.

My food budget overall is fairly low too. My calorie intake probably helps there. I forget to eat rather often, and most days I probably get about 1500 calories, and if I'm really busy, probably around 1000. On busy days, eating becomes an annoyingly unpleasant interruption, and so it gets pushed off. I'll usually just find something quick, like a small cup of chocolate milk for some sugar to make my hands stop shaking so I can keep working on whatever I'm doing at the time.

I would guess around $50 per month. Less in some months and more in others. Not counting business trips with company paid meals, of course.
