Oh come on now it's genetics or lifestyle in your father's case. Somebody who hasn't been in the military for decades isn't going to have a single bit of fitness/strength leftover from that acquired during their time served!Originally posted by: Carbonyl

$0. Some of us don't need to go to a gym or work out.
Me. 55, healthy, fit and ready to kick arse at the drop of a hat!
I believe it. My dad can still kick my and bros ass at the same time probably and he's ~65. Forearms are lhard as nails and he never worked out.

Me neither. I have chicken legs and my dad has big trunks and I think there is more to it than the fact that he's overweight. I know. It's my mom. She has chicken legs. Damn it :|:|Originally posted by: Carbonyl

When I was in the SF bay area, "24 hour fitness" was something like $30 a month (I don't remember if there was a "sign up" fee, but if there was, it was probably $50 or so).
In NYC, the cheapest multi-location gym is like $80 a month (ie, new york sports club). Plus, they have crappy hours and aren't even as nice as 24 hour fitness used to be. The "nicer" gyms (new york HRC or equinox) are closer to $100+ a month (which sucks, becuse these are the gyms that have swimming pools and such).

You could join some national fitness centers at a different state, for example, Bally fitness center has some premium membership for about 40 a month which allows you to use any of their center nation wide. Then you could go back to use it in NYC.....

Time to do some searching...
