I make about $28 per hour but I only work my job as a hobby. I've made a lot of money ghostwriting and a nice sum after getting a couple things published so I could live off that but my job keeps me out there meeting people.

My first job was flipping burgers for $5.50 an hour. Even a few years ago, before I achieved some creative success, I was only making about $11 an hour doing a variety of work. I worked hard and made some solid connections in the publishing industry so I lucked out.

Geeze, this gets asked about every two weeks. Is someone keeping a database of this or something?

The answers will either be "Boo-hoo, I'm not getting paid or am underpaid" or "Hey! Look at me! I make $50/hr!"

Does this really need to be asked on ATOT. We all are making a cool $500 an hour. How else can we all afford our 3 Mercedes Benzes and keep our hot 19 year old Playboy Plamate girl friends?

About $39/hr in Southeast Louisiana in a federal job. Good wage for these parts, but boring and I'm still broke.

I would guess a pretty good percentage are. 100K a year is not some magical number anymore, it's very common for professionals.

About $22/hr, pre-tax, if I consider a month to be 20 work days. More like $15/hr after taxes, 403(b) contributions, and savings.

It's true... my parents were making (together) well over 100K a year even back in 1999, 2000... even over 150K some years. But they're both freelance so it varied a lot from year to year. Now they're making significantly less. And we were never "rich." Health insurance is an immense burden for self-employed people, not to mention they have to pay double in social security tax because they don't have an employer to cover that.

100K a year at a job with full benefits is very different from 100K as a freelancer.

2080 hours as that is how a salary is based regardless of your actual time of work.

I'm salaried, but assuming a standard 40 hour work week (this is where you laugh), I make $28.73 an hour.
