Dammit... I just realized that after I clicked it. That limit is undefined.

It's not really undefined. 1/0 is undefined and has no answer. That limit approaches infinity ;)
Not really. The limit will have different solutions depending on which direction it approaches zero (from the negative side or the positive side). Since you didn't specify which direction, that limit of approaching zero is undefined.

A limit exists if it exists from both sides. Since it exists on the postive side of zero and negative it also exists.
The limit must exist from both sides AND both must approach the same limit for the limit to exist. Otherwise, the limit does not exist.

The lim from the left exists. The lim from the right exists. But the limit at 0 does not.

It's kind of nice because there's this hot girl that works in Academic Advising who gets a lot of it and always asks me to come up and remove it for her.

Yes.
Slows PC: check
Reduces usefulness of PC: check.
Can get on Win2k/XP PCs with Guest Accounts: check.
Can keep a PC from logging on when removed: check.
Can keep a PC from getting in the internet when removed: check.
Can keep 9x machines from booting when removed: check.
Can use browser bugs to install themselves (illegal): check.
Waste tech's (me) time and energy running the same anti-spyware programs over and over: check.
Talk about themselves (FI, Claria copr) as though their 'clients' are willing participants, rather than people wondering WTF is wrong with their PC: big check. So I can get paid for fixing it...it isn't enjoyable, though, or even slightly intellectually engaging.

Personally I hate it, but, it makes for good side business. Eventually SW companies will make it more difficult and users will get smarter. SP2 is a step in the right direction.

The limit as x approches 0 of (1/x) does not exist.
Do you mean "The limit as x approaches 0+ of (1/x)"?

Edit: Points are undefined, limits either exist or they don't.

Last option. I installed ad aware this morning and was thinking exactly about how much I hate spyware and I was going to make a thread about it. I detest spyware as much as if somebody came in my car and stole my CDs. To me it's something more than an annoyance. It's like a violation and an intrusion on my life and privacy. I feel informationally raped knowing that it's on my comp, even though I have nothing to hide. I would like to see some spyware makers end up in the gutters poor, dejected, and alcoholic, losing everything of import in their lives.

I just scanned my gf's family pc yesterday with adaware and removed 1011 objects :Q. I couldn't believe it. Her family of 4 all use the pc and they all have administrator accounts. No firewall, no antivirus whatsoever.

Worst part is her dad took the pc somewhere to have it "fixed" twice, yet it still had all this spyware. I offered to help but he didn't want me to install any programs that would mess it up more . So I did a covert adaware/spybot install for my gf's sake.

The worst offenders are the ones that latch on to the TCP/IP files. None of the programs can remove them and you will still get ads even when running in safe mode with network support!

You have to clobber the TCP/IP sockets and re-installl them to get rid of those buggers.

CWShredder is also gone belly up if you can believe that. :|

It all leads to the source of the problem in the first place. PEBKAC. People need to be informed and use a browser and/or settings that won't allow surreptitious installation of malware.

They have already gotten around the popup blocker in MSIE/SP2. Ridiculous.

I vote 6.02x10^23 if such an option was available.

Cheers!

It's no problem on my systems, since I keep them clean and don't install stuff (or use stuff, like IE) that would load spyware. However, I still ****ing hate it because I have to clean it off friends' and relatives' computers with all too much frequency. :|
