I have a feeling this threads gonna get big. Anyways I'll play along & estimate my rig's parts totaling @ around $1900 at the time they were bought over the years. Today, I'd price it's current value around the ballpark of $1500-1600 excluding depreciation value.

Was roughly $1100 in August 2003, then $80 for Logitech Z640 speakers that October, then added a $340 6800GT in July (although sold my previous 9700 Pro for $140 to offset the cost), then $70 DVD burner just this past week, and now $650 for a 2001FP monitor within the last two hours.

So roughly $2000 including the monitor that's now on its way.

My sig does not have all the hardware listed in my rig. But a good estimate is about $2600 not including shipping, OS, and MS Office Pro software.

BTW, my system building/upgrading is always in flux like the rest of you computer freaks/geeks and so does the investment...always something to buy

i try not to think about it. ;)

The Basics- Case, 2.80C P4, 512MB PC 3500, Abit IC7g MB was ~$500 in February . . .

then . . .

. . . . added a TT 480w PS for $60 more later and a 9800XT for $223 . . . 512MB more PC3500 for $90 . . . . Audigy 2 ZS for $80 . . .. Western Digital - 120.0 GB HD for $40 (after MIR)

i reused my 19" monitor from 4 years ago and just about everything else except for . . . .

. . . . THIS year: new printer i860 Canon for ~$100 and a new Canon a300 camera for the same . . . . new Buslink 128MB-mp3/flashdrive/voice recorder, new net MD Walkman, wireless Logitech internet webcam/KB/mouse, Nostromo N52 speedpad . . . .

adds up :p

I will go on memory for a lot of these, as a good deal of my system came from the FS/T forum.

XP2400 mobile - $87, Newegg
1GB PC3200 GeIL - $132, Newegg
NF7-S rev1.2 - $75?
Radeon 9800 Pro - $170
Alpha 8045 - $22
Enlight 7237 - $70?
Antec Truepower 430 - $65
CCFL's - $10
Fans - $9
TV tuner - $20
Logitech z-640's - $40
USB PCI card - $16, Newegg
21" Nokia 445 Monitor - $235
Logitech dual optical - $45?
Keyboard - $6.95, in 1997
1250VA UPS - $125

And my second system....probably about as expensive, maybe more. It has less on the videocard front, but it has an excellent storage system - 4 hard drives in RAID 5, plus an extra one for storage (mainly because the RAID card only supports 4 drives, and I'd wanted 5. Oops). All I know is, I got a magic number for the cost of the hard drive upgrades and the RAID 5 card - $666. And 90 cents, but that's not the important number.:D

Well that post here took awhile to research, and I'm not going to the trouble for my second system. :)

Oh yes, the total is....holy crap. $1127.95. Geez. Now I know why my sister has a larger bank account than me. She doesn't have an expensive habit to feed.
