i dunno how much it would translate too hour wise but I got 400/month with a paper route. Not bad when your in 7th grade. I probably put in around a 10-15 hour work week (probably around 1-1 1/2 hours to put papers in plastic bag and deliver). so thats roughly around $8/hour ($100/12.5h)

dish washer at a chinese restaurant: $4.25/hr

I can't remember! it was 1974.. I was after hours file clerk in medical records dept. of a hospital clinic. it was probably near minimum wage.. 1.90? yoohoo.. google...

On May 1, 1974, the minimum wage was increased for the first time in over six years. The increase was a very steep 25 percent, as the wage went from $1.60 to $2.00 per hour.

ok.. I still don't know. maybe 1.65. maybe 1.90. whichever, I guess I got a raise in may!

My first "real" job was in 1993 at K-Mart. Minimum wage was $4.25 an hour and I thought I was cool because I made more than minimum wage. A whole ten cents more. lol I made $4.35 an hour for those of you that can't count.

Sacking groceries @ $3.50/hr. I put up with more BS at that job than I do at my current ($17.17) job.

$2.25 an hour as a house painters helper. It was 1974. Jeez, I bet RD started out much lower than that considering his age.

$2.35 sacking groceries in 1977. Gas was $.38 a gallon (thank God, I had a '70 Chevelle SS), cigarettes were $.28 a pack for Dorals, and an 8 pack of little Millers were $3 from the bootlegger. That money went a long ways back then for a 16 year old :D

Golf course pro shop worker - $5.50/hr.

However, after my fourth summer there, I left the place with an $8.50 hourly rate. :)

I was their best employee.

$4.25 working at a auto body shop. When cars were done, I had to wash them, then drive them real fast to dry them off.
