A little less than $1,000 current month debt on CC's, no mortgages, no car loans, no student loans. I love being virtually debt free.

$42,000 on our house everything else is payed for in cash... working for "oldsmoboat" range🙂 It is tough at first but if you get it under control it can be done!

44 buy the way. My house is smaller than most (3bedroom, one bath) but nice and only have a 1/4 acer of land but it is almost mine! We put aside about $6000 to fix what ever the house needs a year so it keeps the home up and we improve the home on good years.

OP,

ALWAYS put a poll option for zero ... $0.

My answer is (you guessed it) ... $0.

Old house we're trying to sell: ~$64000
New house we currently live in: ~$134000
CC: ~1700 on new fridge we bought but 0% interest next 11 months
Cars: $0 but they're both 11 years old, gonna kill me to have a car payment again when one of them blows up

just a bit shy under $200,000 🙁

148k - 1st mortgage @ 3.8%......15 years left
18k - 2nd mortgage @8.8%....8 years left
7k - 1st car
12k - 2nd car
17k - credit card

My backup plan to get it to 0 is to walk away from it all one day

The amount isn't important it's whether you can pay it off or not. People who owe millions never miss a meal. It's the poor schmuck that's short $20 before payday that's hurtin'

$75k in under and grad loans for her
$18k in cc
$192k mortgage

School loans are down (thanks to NHSC) from $150k, CC is down from 35k, plus we paid off her car this year, another $4k. Shit's on hold now, while I'm in school until 2012.

around 30k on my truck.

I am making more than 5.99apr on my 401k / company stock plan, so there is no point in lowering my contributions to pay it off.

The only debt I have is a student loan.

Edit: How comes you guys are able to borrow so much money as a student loan?

In the UK when I was at Uni, you were limited to borrowing a maximum of about £20k ($30K).

Borrowed about 12,000 to buy a used truck in late August when my other truck finally gave up. We had been completely debt free for almost 5 years, but had just drained most of our cash reserves to buy our 2nd rental property, so the truck giving up was just kind of bad timing. Should have that loan paid off in the next 6 months or so we are in pretty good shape.
