AIM, AVG, Winamp, network cable unplugged (I'm using wireless), volume, wireless signal monitor, Proxomitron, and SpeedSwitch XP. The only one that I have showing are left-to-right (and it has to be in that order), AIM, Winamp, and my wireless monitor.

On a side note, other than disabling the NIC in my laptop or plugging a cable in, is there a way to have the network cable unplugged icon not show up in the systray?

In WinXP: Right-Click on START>Properties>Taskbar>Customize (Hide inactive icons)...

That work?

Next time you see it, go into taskbar properties and choose always hide for that icon.

Yeah, that hides it, but I was wondering if there's a way to have it not there at all? I found a way to have it be gone when the network cable is plugged in but I haven't seen anything for when the cable is unplugged.

I wins! hehehe Ok, so that is an exageration, but it shows how useful TrayIT! is. It is a cool little program that allows you to put any application in the systray, by Right-Clicking the "X"(close button) on most programs.

I love it.

The only thing I have is MSN & NAV in my tray.

I can't stand tray icons, they do my head in, infact, I have hardly any backround processes at all.
