Yeah, that hides it, but I was wondering if there's a way to have it not there at all? I found a way to have it be gone when the network cable is plugged in but I haven't seen anything for when the cable is unplugged.

Yeah, Service Pack 2 lets you disable it.

Go into your network connections and find the connection it is showing. Right click it and hit 'Disable'. I always wondered how to do it too and this fixed it for me.

AIM, Dialup connection, Creative Volume Control, Itunes, ATI desktop, Allofmp3, Outlook. Thank god microsoft put the hide inactive icons feature, it would kill me to have all those on my task bar on XGA res.
