how much better is a X1950XT to a evga 7800GT CO?

I was looking on newegg and i seached for the x1950xtx and i see they are still pretty expensive 350-400. Then i notice there was a x1950xt which was 219 NICE

Then i start looking for reviews and they seem few, so i was wondering do you guys think it would be worth to upgrade to this card from the 7800gt in my sig to last another year ( i should be done with college in a year woot!! ).

I guess i should list what i would be using the card for,
Vista
AOE3
FPS (hopefully ut2007 and maybe quake wars), but right now just hl2
CAD programs (it seems there are a script to turn these radeons to FireGL for my XP boot)

I have the X1950XT and it was quite a difference over my 7900GS, not the best comparison but the best I can do. I would think the difference should be noticable for you, and I surely hope it's fast enough for the next year or so. I also got mine for $219 after rebate which sealed the deal.

I think you should wait. You would get a decent increase, especially at your resolution but once DX10 cards' prices settle they'll be much better. The 8600 series should perform like the X1900XT, maybe slightly better (or worse), but with DX10 support and a lower power consumption.

X1950XTX 512MB will beat the living ****** out of 7800GT OC .... X1950XTX can keep up with 8800GTS

Half a year ago a x1950xt would have been a good upgrade from a 7800gt. Now, with the release of next gen cards coming close, I'd just wait for the newer cards.

Well sounds like i should wait....

This was to be bought with some of my Tax return so it isn't like i already got it

But i don't think i will get a 8600GT as i would see that 128-bit memory interface being an issue at 1920x1200.

So maybe a nice 8900GTS will come out by then and will cost around 350-400 and be as fast as the current GTX. But who knows maybe ATI will have their next gen out the door too or we can only hope.

My X1900XT performed very close to my 7800GTs in SLI. You'll notice a big difference between the two cards, but if you game at 1920x1200 than the 256MB might limit you.

7800GS OC > x1950xt should be *significant*

i have a 7800GS OC and a x1950p ... the x1950p IS a more powerful card ... and the xt is still more powerful than the Pro
... and my rig is somewhat CPU-limited, so you should have even *more* of an upgrade

just make *sure* your PS is capable

Why would you buy a x1950xtx when you can buy a 8800GTS 640MB for same price?

I saw one for $339 at newegg today (cheaper even?)

AFAT x1950xt, its the best deal in graphics and will be 2x faster than a 7800GT.
