$90CND/month for that plan.

Unlimited? Not sure, ISP plans vary a lot across the country.

In the really old days a lot of the plans used to be "unlimited" (as in, don't go too insane with bandwidth and we won't phone you and threaten to suspend your account), but that was when bittorrent was very new. Now things are much crappier.

wow, sounds like you guys need some serious competition over there.

I always thought it would be cool to start an ISP, but I don't have anywhere near the amount of capital it would take to start one and I imagine that's the issue with starting one. Also I'm not sure what rules are in place that may stop it from being possible. Not to mention I work for one, so it would be a conflict of interest. If I did start one though, I would go big. gig fibre up/down to every house, even do underground cable plant. Once one town is done and everything is tweaked, I'd move on to other towns and exponentially grow. I'd try to hire people to manage all the logistics behind it so I can concentrate on other stuff like setting up the equipment at the COs. Would actually be a fun project, I just don't have nowhere near the amount of money it would take. :p

Average 50GB/month, monthly cap is 200GB. I'm on ADSL2, I might go for fibre but I doubt that my usage would change noticeably as a result.

Goes up and down. Usually around 2GB per day. So i guess an average of 60GB per month.

We don't have any restrictions, so we are free to download and upload as much as we want. Currently on 100/100 fiber plan for $98USD a month.

Nice idea, but good luck going up against Rogers and Bell.

Teksaavy has to use Rogers' and Bell's wiring and service techs, which is the deal breaker for me. I'd love to be on a Teksaavy plan, but OMFG, they have to use their competitors' technicians...

Yeah I imagine a lot of that also has to do with CRTC and other regulations. I can't imagine I can just go around stringing fibre everywhere across the country. Probably tons of politics involved in that. That or the cost would be completely outrageous like 1mil per pole or something like that.

Typical 25/2 plan is about ~$55 by the big telcos. Bell and Rogers offer unlimited bandwidth for $30 unless you have 3 services with them, then it's $10. Sounds like what you have...

Yeah only two big ISPs isn't good. :|

It's Bell and Rogers. Telus and Shaw out west?

Teksaavy should be available, but they use part of the Rogers and Bell network and their techs here, apparently.

We have 4 people in our house and use the Internet quite a bit, and I think we hover around the 40GB mark per month. I honestly don't understand how people can use 400GB in a month. I work for an ISP and we have 500 employee businesses that don't use half that much.

My usage has been pretty inconsistent the past few months. I usually stream a decent amount of HD content (Hulu + Amazon) every month. December was low because I got cable and mostly watched that instead of streaming stuff.

When I had internet only, I streamed everything I watched. That put me around 80-100GB per month.

Cut cable about a month ago. Would be interested in seeing what our current usage is, but no way to do so.

I have Windows 8 and if you click on the Wifi button and select the connection you use, it gives you an estimated usage.

why do you assume people only have 1 device.
most people have at least a laptop/desktop plus a phone, and then maybe a tablet.
most people also have a family, or roommates.

I'd check the router logs to get a summation of all bandwidth used by all devices.
