I am just wondering how much people are in debt, if any right now. Lucky for you people who aren?t.

Post 2 numbers

1st is Current Credit Card/s Debt.

2nd is current total debt including Credit cards, house, student loans, property, cars anything else you might owe money on.

I am not really interested in if you sell X then you will only be in debt X amount I'm just wondering current debt that?s all.

ME

CC/s = $3970

Everything $110970

I do count home mortgages as debt, even though you could sell the home and get rid of it.

You shouldn't be counting a mortgage as debt...You should take the value of your house minus the amount of the mortgage and let that be an asset.

If you move it to Massachusetts, it'll be worth 500,000. Does that help? 😛

You cant say that, the market could be liquid 🙂

I have a lot of debt, and I recently married a woman who also had her fair share of debt.

6 months ago, our debt looked like this:

CC: 19000
Car 1: 4000
Car 2: 11000
Student Loan: 10000
And no mortgage, because we rent.

It was scary, we sat down and tried to figure where our money went every month, and honestly...we were nickle & dimeing our selves to death.

We've been at least doubling and sometimes tripling our payment on car 1, and it will be paid for in Feb. We now have a savings account for emergencies, which was implemented into our "budget" and is treated as a bill with a minimum payment. We figured this was important becuase in case of an emergency, we didn't want to have to go into more debt. When the Car 1 is done, all of those double & triple payments will go on to the student loan, and we expect to have it gone in less than 10 months. And when that's gone, Car 2 should be paid for within 6 months. Finally the CC bill. Boy was I ever stupid with that thing, and it's costing us now.

At the current rate we're going, we'll be completely debt free by the end of 2007 and never plan on going into debt again unless it's for a home.

Both cars should last us a while, and we've agreed to *swat* the new car bug when it fly's in. The past 6 months have been rough, doing without on a lot of things that we wanted. Keyword "wanted". We do allow ourselves a certain amount of "blow-money" each month, and once it's gone it's gone till next month. Even though it's been rough, on the next paycheck when we write the final check for car 1, it'll be worth it. For the first time since we've been together we're starting to fill in the hole that we've been digging.

1) 0

2) 157,500 (mortgage)

I've luckily never had credit card 'debt' (other than what I pay off every month?) but the people I know who do have CC debt are miserable.

$7100 left on my wife's car
$12000 left on my car
$139000 on my mortgage
$4000 left on my boat
$2000 on credit cards
$3000 left on wife's student loan
