Used to be every couple of hours. I just get really jazzed up when I order something :D

Automatic updates have replaced my obsession.

I hate when it's "out for delivery" and then never shows.

Like the driver couldn't hit all his stops or something. Then it shows up the next day.

Talk about blue balls. Especially if it something you were really waiting for.

Just tracked a new thermostat controller so that I can control my fermentation temperatures. I checked that damn thing all day. It was sitting on my doorstep when I got home...always worried someone will steal it.

I usually leave it on one of my screens so I can keep hitting refresh.

There are two statuses that are music to my heart: "In transit" meaning it FINALLY got shipped out. And the best one is: "Available for pickup". I get full of joy when I see that status.

If I order from Amazon, never.... I just expect it the next day or two.

this. amazon is fantastic and i am more often surprised by early arrivals than late ones. i cant think of more than maybe twice where i have wondered where a package was

I tend to be pretty anal about checking it when it's out for delivery. I live in an apartment complex, and they will deliver items to the office instead of leaving them at my door. The problem is that I get home after the office closes, which means I don't get my package until the next day, and there's nothing worse than your preeeeecious sitting just outside your grasp!

Once, to see when it's scheduled to be delivered.

If it's shipped USPS, then it gets here when it gets here.

I like to check several times if it is something I'm excited about. If it is just a filter replacement or some other necessity, then I don't ever track packages.

But, I'm starting to get mad at UPS. The last few packages haven't shown the delivery date. I ordered an HTPC from Lenovo this weekend (a St. Patrick's day hot deal that ends today). Lenovo didn't say when it will be delivered (I took the free slow delivery). I have a UPS tracking number. UPS won't say when it will be delivered. So, someday this week I'll have a computer sitting outside my house (all day long) and I still have no clue what day that is. I've watched it be tracked from NC to WV to IL. But I'm still 2 states away. Sure, I'm signed up for UPS's My Choice program which helps by telling me the morning of the delivery that it is out for delivery. But, I'm already committed to work meetings by then.

Google tracking on my phone is fantastic, but even Google can't track if I never get a tracking email.

Sometimes at my old apartment I would ask the lady in the office to have to deliver it to my apartment and put it in there. I did that with my pc built and came home to find it all in the living room. But you can't trust everyone. Now I just ship it to my gfs house because I know someone will be there. This new apartment they just leave it outside your door and ring the bell. I'll only order here if I know I'll be working from home or off that week.

At the most 3-4 times.

1. When I get notification email that package has been shipped/ready to be picked up.
2. Another time to get the tracking number and see which shipping company was used.
3. Another on the scheduled day of delivery.
4. Then after package is delivered, the status to see if it has been signed for and delivered.

1 time. I check the est. delivery date when I place the order, put that into my memory bank and forget about it.

Typically 2-3 times. I'll look at the tracking info when I get the shipping notification, to see what day it's supposed to arrive.

Then I'll check over the course of that day to see if it was delivered, when it was delivered, if there were any notes on the delivery, exceptions, errors, etc. That way if I need to call to resolve an issue or something, I can do so during normal business hours.

What is this Google Now? Is it new?
It is pretty useful. If I get an email about a restaurant lunch, then shortly before lunch, it automatically maps the route and tells me the traffic time. Same goes if I Google a destination. It also keeps track of packages (if there was a good email regarding packages) and similar things that used to take several tedious steps on a phone.

Depends what it is. I order boring stuff of Amazon all the time. I don't track that. When I buy myself something exciting, I put the tracking number into an app on my phone that pops up alerts when the tracking changes.
