They have determined there is a different culture within their school and they wanted a black perspective. It's just that it's more internal. Most white people still get upset when they see a group of black teenagers out in their neighborhood. Put a group of white or even Asian teenagers and their reaction is going to be much different. Also, how many people internally are screaming negative statements towards blacks in their homes or cars. What about going into a restaurant and all you see are a sea of black teens. Most people are going to feel uncomfortable and leave.

A black perspective is needed when a black person would naturally have a different perspective about a specific topic. For example, a white kid wouldn't know shit about someone he never met assuming his parents don't give a shit about his education, while it is very likely that a black kid would deal with that attitude often. Having a white teacher offering advice about that type of thing would be like having a male offering advice to a teenage girl about her period.

What we are really debating here is not being sensitive, not racism. The statements in the OP are not racist. They just aren't. They aren't very sensitive and if I get the context correct, shouldn't be used by teachers because they are worded poorly. But saying any of those things wouldn't be racist. It doesn't dilute anything, it teaches us to use better communication. There are better ways to say most of the things on that list that aren't as ambiguous. What you call walking on eggshells I call saying what you really mean. There is enough hate in the world without compounding it with easily avoidable misunderstandings.
