How old are you?

I saw a story somewhere a while back about the teenager who had some sort of record... several hundred or thousand or something... and the coach that was counting had to sit on him/her to make them stop, cause they wanted to keep going. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

I'm 16, very much out of shape, and can only do about 12. :(

<-- has started other forms of exercising in the past few weeks, but has not done any pushups lately except for these; needs to start doing them again to be able to do more.

I'm too tired to try it now, but the last time I tried I did 25 and almost died afterwards. I could probably do more once I'm in shape, but not sure how many more.

The 'rest' position is almost as bad as the pushups! :p

Ok I haven't done pushups in maybe 20+ years.

I just ripped off 20 fairly easly. (The way I was taught in the Marines, so NO I didn't cheat, back straight, all the way up and all the way down)

My friends and I did this thing in college where we did 3000 pushups in 12 days... doesn't sound too hard... it's really easy for the first few days, but then the soreness starts kicking in, and you still have to do your 250 pushups a day.

I just had a dozen hotwings, an entire medium pepperoni/canadian bacon pizza and a six pack of beer. If I try to do a pushup, I will bust clean thru the floor and land on my neighboors couch. He doesn't like me very much already. His wife is cute though...not bad for 43 years old and two kids.....

You know what I find much harder than pushups? Freaking pull ups, the kind with your palms facing away from you. God I hate those....

Anyway, TallBill, I'll bet you get up to about 60 non-stop. If I take a little 10-15 second breather at around 70, I think I could go past 100 pretty easily, but haven't tried <-- too lazy. No friends to make stupid bets with anymore, and my brother is away at college. :(

I tried that once a year or so ago, by doing 300 total (as in 50 or 60 push up sets) a day. By the third day, with classes and what not, I was like...screw this!! lol When you flex your chest and you get a freaking muscle pull, it's time to slow down there buddy.

BTW, what's the max barbell curl you guys can do properly? I'm up to 120lbs now, which is pretty damn good for me, considering my max 2 years ago was 80 lbs!!

I can do 20 long arm pull ups properly. Going all the way down so my arms are straight and not half bent!. I can do them either way, doesn't bother me :D

All this is just practice and reptition. Just practice them every day and you can do it. A good figure is at least 10 to do for pull ups. If you can hit 10 then thats pretty good. Long arm ones. Not going nearly to the bottom then coming. Got to be long arm ones.

Do you measure that as total weight on the barbell, or weight per hand (total / 2)? If it's the former, I do well to get in 10 repetitions of 40 lbs. :(

Hopefully this will improve over time.

I do 115lb proper curl.

You measure the total weight.

What do you guys squat to at least parallel? I hit up 308lbs for 170lbs body weight :D
