In top shape (high school) I was able to do about 50 and killed myself at 80. Now I could probably do about 15.

My Kung Fu instructor used to do similar, however, he took is a little easier on the beginning ranks. A white sash only had to complete 10 proper push-ups. Each rank added another 10. Having lower ranks complete their push ups before the higher ranks also earned the higher rank's more push ups. At my rank, it was 50 push ups.

At my peak, doing 50 would hardly break a sweat. A single class with have several sets of 50, to say nothing of the much more intense rank tests. Rank tests easily had several thousand push ups.

I was in pretty dang good shape then. :( Unfortunately, I had to give it up because of the cost. It wasn't a cheap class.

when I was 15 years old I could do pushups with just my thumbs as well as one handed pushups.

I could also to pullups with just my fingertips.

Now, I am talking about like 10 pullups and 10 pushups doing them like that but no one else I knew accept 2 or 3 people at my entire school could do it.

I was thin and very strong. Today I would break my thumbs and the pullups lol never.

25 full, chest + chin touching carpet, push-ups. My best would probably be 35-40. I can bench-press my body weight (1x, I'm 145, bench 155). I think the op and people who say they can do 250 real push-ups are full of sh*t or they are (1 out 50million normal ppl) elite athletes.. If you can do 250 push-ups, you should be able to do 3x your body weight in bench-press, at least, and that's without prior weight training experience of course..
