There is an old saying that goes something like this - "People willingly turn to socialism. Communism is enforced by violence."

When socialism fails, governments will embrace communism to maintain control.

In other words, socialism is a stepping stone to either fascism or communism.

There is another old saying: One old and one saying equals one fact!
Right? Though facts be fake news and alternative facts are true, thus giving us the ultimate paradox of Trumpism logic : true equals false or one alternative right. Alt right personified.

I love your post; except when you are mean.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While we are building the wall, let's go ahead and give that communist state of california back to mexico. I am sure between socialism and communism california liberals can solve mexicos problems.
Let's not build a wall between mexico and california, let's build a wall separating communism and a free republic.
Now you're talking like like a true Soviet.
A bit of bothsiderism?
The toddler in chief owns the shutdown. McConnell was complicit in letting it go on as long as it did.
The bill Trump ultimately signed was the same bill that McConnell sent to the House before Christmas. When Trump double crossed him, he stood back & watched Trump burn himself to the ground. He said he wouldn't consider a bill Trump wouldn't sign, and he didn't, until Trump caved. I'm sure he watched in wonderment at how Trump could be so stupid.
You’re welcome to point out where I blamed Pelosi or the Democrats for the shutdown. This thread of discussion started with my blaming Trump for doubling down on a poor hand.
A lot of people are saying he "caved", but it was less a surrender and more a ceasefire. The bill is only for three weeks, after which he can hold the government hostage all over again. And don't think he wouldn't, as after the rebukes from the conservative media, you can be sure he'll be even more adamant about not compromising in round 2.
Pretty much this...
Trump is very likely going to listen to the right wing talking pinhead hosts on radio and Fox and do it all over again.
In any case it was Airport workers at LaGuardia Airport worker who deserve credit for forcing Trump to back off at least temporarily politicians other than Trump just read the polls and waited out that petulant child.
One wishes President Obama wasn't hampered by term limits so that he could have smashed Trump's face (electorally speaking of course) in 2016...
Well it did cross my mind that many of Trump's supporters have abandoned the pretense that Trump's Wall would effectively stop illegal immigration "dead in its tracks" and now want that wall for two reasons and two reasons only: 1) because Trump wants it and 2) because everyone else besides them and Trump think it's a stupid idea.
I want the wall because:
Rich Hollywood liberals have walls around their homes.
Hillary and bill have a wall around their home.
Obama has a wall around his home.
The pope has a wall around the Vatican.
It a wall is good enough for them, it's good enough for our nation.
yes. He got shit on by the Derposhpere in his Twitter feed, or whatever you call it, as soon as he announced his surrender this afternoon. That is not in dispute...and it's the very same derposhpere that triggered Trump's incomparable ego that lead to this shutdown. ...very weird stuff that somehow writes itself, because it really couldn't be true otherwise...in the land where adults rule, anyway.
And so that is where we are now. A child has conceded to adults, and it is now national conversation. Fucking amazing. I honestly doubt that even the country-hating conservatives would continue to vote to shut down the gov 3 weeks from now when the wall will still obviously not be built. ...but it is Trump. The plan is to ride out this concession for about 3 days, then start attacking. His base will forget this week, and everything before it, by 3 weeks. It is certain.
Trump never wanted a wall. What he wanted was a fight with Democrats so he could play victim to his white nationalist base, and he didn't give a shit who he hurt. If he wanted a wall he could have funded it without a single Democrat vote in Fiscal Year 2017 through a reconciliation bill. He didn't really have a chance in Fiscal Year 2018 because he was too concerned with giving himself a tax windfall so it's understandable then. But he had from last October 1st through the end of December to pass or at least push for a Fiscal Year 2019 reconciliation bill to fund the wall and he didn't. He waited until the Republican senate was heading home for Christmas with Pelosi and the Democrats ready to take the House to pull this act. In other words he waited until the first possible moment funding the wall would actually be out the question to demand it. Until then he could have funded it. He doesn't want a wall, he wants to pretend to justify a stupid campaign slogan and lay some groundwork to run on it again in 2020. We had a 35 day shutdown over a campaign slogan. What a disgrace Trump is to this nation.
Yeah but trollhiker's argument is walls work. I think its funny he doesn't know the history of the great wall and how it was ineffective in its stated goal.
There isn't any border wall ever that served it's stated purpose but, facts don't seem to mean much to Trumps base.
I'll agree with you on the one condition that you'll also agree that those Western nations that comprise NATO and those nations friendly with NATO nations should build an "impregnable contiguous wall" (like the one Trump wants to make us pay for here at home) across their entire eastern borders with Russia and make Putin pay for it to you know, keep those nasty Russian terrorists and drug dealers from pouring across their borders. ;)
You are being mean, please stop.
There is no need in the insults.
Oh there is definitely a need for insults because nothing else gets through your fat head. It's cool that you have a different opinion on how things should be, it's not OK when you start justifying your actions by denying reality. You are the problem, not me, not government, you.
You will either accept reality and facts and be a part of society or you will be shamed into a dark and lonely hole where people who can't face reality belong (or a nut house, your choice).
So, it didn't do it's stated job and, was built by soldiers, pressed workers and, pow's. What was your point again?
Unlike Trump's wall, the Chinese had to fight actual invaders, thus justifying building a wall. And it didn't work too well, so what is Trump doing pushing a wall that does nothing and cost real money?
