How many of you try to maintain a 2000 calorie diet daily?

I am realizing how hard it is. Single slice of bread, 110 calories. Cereal without milk around 250 calories for a single cup serving. It really starts adding up. But I've lost 30 lbs in the past 3 months so its hasn't been for nothing. Just wondering how many people count calories?

I try to. What type of bread are you eating? My Healthy Choice 100% whole wheat bread is only about 80 calories a slice and it's much more filling than most other breads out there.

I usually do about 300 calories for breakfast (toast, waffles with light syrup, fruit, cereal, ect), then a medium sized lunch for 500 calories, and then a larger dinner for about another 800 calories.

I'll have some fruit or pretzels throughout the day for another 150 to 200 calories. That saves me about 200 calories for a beer or two at night if I want one.

I try to watch what I eat. I don't know how close I am to 2000, though. I usually eat a bagel (with nothing on it; I just nuke it and pick it apart) or sometimes oatmeal for breakfast, a sandwich and maybe some pasta (rather than chips or fries from the dining hall) for lunch, and dinner is either about the same as lunch or whatever the entree for the evening is. Since I'm usually up late doing work, I may grab a peanut butter sandwich around 10 or 11. Drink lots of water throughout the day and have cut out a lot of soda and candy, etc. I'm apparently doing all right; both my grandparents and my aunt and uncle have noticed I've been slimming down.

If I ate 2000 calories a day for a long period of time, I'd disappear. I'm 230lbs and normally eat between 4500 and 6000 calories a day. By the way, this is muscle, not fat.

For lunch today I ate 2 chicken breasts, large green salad, 2 granny smith apples.

Just eat meat and cut out the carbs. A chicken breast is 140 calories compared to that 110 for a slice of bread. Also 3 eggs would be 210 vs that 250 for a single cup of cereal.

I used to eat about 6000 calories a day. It's a pain to eat that much, it takes so much time.

That's good to know. I haven't had eggs in so long.

I don't have snacks. I pretty much only drink water and I think I still consume a little over 2000 calories a day.

Currently I'm on 1700-1800/day including weights and cardio and 5 meals all high in protein. Sometimes, like on a party saturday, I'll have 3k plus, so then it takes another loss day just to break even. I've been doing this for a little while now and it's really not too hard, though I won't pretend I don't envy for pizza all the time :)

. All that crap dose is starve the body, forget that. 2000 calorie diet is easy if you eat semi decent food. An even mix of carbs, fat and protine works best though. Also something that's good to know, fats tell the brain the stomach is full, eat a little cheeze with your meals (real cheeze, not the sliced crap) and it'll act as an appitite killer.

Yep easily! I have an appetite like a horse. If I didn't watch my calories at all I guess I'd hit 4k a day and pile the weight on. I can pull in 2000 in a sitting of beer and pizza with room to spare later, but it sures puts the belly fat on. For grins here is what I eat now, generally:

1) Breakfast of total raisin bran and 1 cup skim milk (this is low on protein but oh well)
2) Lunch is banana milk shake with skim milk and protein powder scoop
3) Afternoon snack is generally either can of tuna or 30 g of protein worth of fat free cottage cheese (I LOVE it).
4) Supper something like chicken breast and vegetables
5) Later in night maybe half a bag of low fat popcorn and a can of tuna.

The only way I can keep a tab on consumption is by religious counting of calories. I kid myself if I just "try to stay fairly hungry". Does not work at all. Also regimenting strictly my consumption from day to day keeping the food pretty consistent helps as well. Then once a week or so I end up just eating whatever and week to week find that weight goes off quite quickly.
